diy and fords
I have been reading the rs turbo section on here and its like how do i change the head gasket and how do i turn the boost up myself now wtf are you guys thinking
now im all for a bit of diy on your car if you know what your doing but half of you clearly don't have a clue but you go ahead and have ago anyway
you don't here them talking about it on the scooby forum or any other this is why fords get there reputation of being unreliable because something breaks and you try to fix it yourself
then because you bodge it you then sell it on to some poor cunt who's been wanting one for years and fucks up on him within a week so what im trying to say is for fuck sake take it to a garrage to be fixed properly its a performance car things break like any car if you can't afford to do this then your simply to poor to own one

What the fuck?
Whilst youre taking your shitmobile to the garage being charged extortionate rates to get a simple job fixed, us(DIY'ers) are at home, completing the job probably not as quickly, but a damn sight cheaper, and coming out of it with the knowledge of how to do it again if necessary.
So, go fuck yourself.

Its not a dig you can take which way you like
but think about it if the guy who owned it before you fixed it properly then you would not have the headache of it breaking today

its called a hobby m8, as said most people on here dont just like to drive a car without knowin wots wot, granted people can Fuck it up but thats part of the learning process aint it , if everybody went to a garage then prices would be a lot more imo as it would be a a free for all on prices as good trustworthy tuners/mechanics are like hens teeth,
just my two pennies worth

imo you're grouping 2 different groups in the same stereotype.
1) people who want to maintain a car themselves, DO care about it, and want to make sure they do things right
2) idiot kids who havent a clue how things work, and fuck it all up

When I was talking to some very knowledgeable people about the choice between a cossi or a scooby, not ONE SINGLE ONE RECOMMENDED A SCOOBY as soon as I said TUNE IT!!
The people I asked beliberately did BOTH cossie and scooby cars, so had no axe to grind either way.
Where the hell do you think experts come from, R+D that's where.
Even MR COSTIN and co started at the bottom in the shed taking their lawnmower to bits etc.
Just be grateful for the novice as he is tomorows expert, which all the numpty owners like you sound will need, as you are challenged to put air in the tyres!!

mate i only ever take my cars to a garage once a year, and thats for an MOT cos i cant do that myself...
i have never done any mechanics courses etc, all i know is self taught by doing it MYSELF, not paying some other fuckwit to fuck it up for me
i like to learn stuff, and you aint gonna do that by paying someone else

I'm with you on this 1, there is nothing wong with diy and personally i do most of the work myself, and if i dont know i have friends who know but rather than just getting them to do it i'll do it with them so i'm learning. However there are loads of shocking examples out there purely down to plebs having a crack and fucking the job right up, you find these diy knobbers (not the ones who actually have a bit of savy and know what there doing) fuck the job up then it has a knock on effect and something else breaks.

Just fitted a header tank and swirl pot for the first time ever, in the dark!
Does that mean my car is now a pile of shit just because I didn't pay Ł300 to get it fitted!

heavily modified/highly tuned is something different though and 99% of people do have it done by a 'pro' . general maintainance and mild tuning is what were talking here

I'll let you know my results from tonights DIY when it gets light so I can find the rest of my tools! (If only I'd have driven straight in to the garage so the fookin lights weren't blacked out by the bonnet!) I may have sobered up then as well!!! PMSL

LMFAO!
I'd only had a couple before i'd started. Then it got dark so I thought i'd use some beer goggle power!
(Even managed to chop a few of the Samco's to fit neatly too!!)
Ran the car for twenty mins with no probs so far!
Will probably blow up when I test it tomorrow! (if not I might post some pics!)

not passion ford
not slagging crustworld off as theres loads of info on there
just not for my car
actually i havent been on there for moons
and the site seems a lot more info involved.not just car pics
so i take my words back
i am quite happy to admit when i am wrong
pf is quicker for cosworth questions.and parts though
so many people willing to help as they have had the problem before.
or a deleted ford part you need

I never have snags getting help on here or the RS Owners forum, should I need it! But I don't tackle big jobs on my own!
The worst thing i've attempted is a Sierra Cosworth heater matrix (Not mine-cossiekeef's, but we did it!)
Took fookin 7 hours! (from diagnosing to fixing -dashboard off, new matrix on, dashboard back together- etc)
I must admit I probably wouldn't do that again! And that was the result of us DIY fitting his Samco hoses the night before! (After a few bottles of wine! )
I still think a lot of things are well achievable by someone with an iota of basic engineering skills. I don't do my own servicing, simply because I want it recorded, but not all DIY'ers are chimps! (drunken chumps maybe )

so can do it in about 3 hours now ..
fitting a new speedo cable next week
even so many fingers will be cut and bleed in the process behind the dash
just make the cable longer would have been a thought
