Default Wire ringing vs multi layer gaskets

Was wondering, know pretty much everyone goes for multi layer these days and i know different builders prefer different ones ie cometic, raceline or proper WRC ones etc but how come not so many ppl wire ring blocks and just use a group a HG these days?!?!

Know its kind of an oldschool way of doing it but as far as reliabilty goes is it still reliable but just not used these days due to metal ones being availble?! Or were there problems with doing it.

cheers for any info

well every race engine that I have built I have all ways wire rung it and never had a head sealing issue and that with 2.5 bar held to the red line now I have used cometic gasket that failed at 1.9 bar and every thing was prepped as it should have been and that didn't last but now I have a wrc 4 layer gasket and so far so good its just a different way of doing things its like 4 big injectors over 8 injectors but tuners and people do things that no works for them

Ah right so its still quite common today then, was talking about it the other day with someone so thought i'd get some opinions on how much its actually used today etc!!

Funny u should say that about cometic as the 2 main builders i spoke too a while back said not too use it, 1 prefers raceline whereas the other said WRC all the way!!
