Default FAO Audi peeps.. help pls - getting pistons back in calliper

Went to fit some new rear discs to a mates estate earlier (r reg ish shape), i got as far removing the calliper bit, and then bent an 8mm allen key trying to remove the slider bracket bit

i then opened the box of new discs to find that they are basically the hub too and house the bearings - arseholes

put it back together and hes now ordering some new bearings...

i thought it was only old renults that used the disc as the hub too lol

anyhow, any tips for doing them?

i gave the 8mm allen key bolts a good soaking with the old wd40 to hopefully help for when i next have a go at em lol

no need to fit new bearings, the old ones come out easy enough.

the 8mm allen bolts are always tight, 3/8 breaker bar and an extension required.

seal pops out the back easily, bearings fall out, races tap out easily with a hammer/punch. then remove the abs ring from the back, using the hammer and punch tap the ring off by putting the punch through the wheel bolt holes, do this evenly else it will bend/crack.

reassembly as reverse!

cheers mate

i came to the conclusion that had never been off...

so said he may aswell order new bearings as it wont hurt...

i had a big extension on the the allen key, it twisted the end of it

hopefully the wd40 will do the trick

cheers mate.

whats the best way to screw the pistons in?

use a G clamp or similar to put pressure on and twist, or simply use mole grips etc?

cheers

oooooooooooo kkkk

had another go tonight... got the complete carrier off this time after using a torque wrench and the 8mm allen socket i bought earlier... didnt like the sound it made tho sounded like it broke lol

anyhow, calliper off, i then took the disc off, how tight should the nuts for the bearings be? this was pretty loose compared to a ford lol, it simply undone by hand as i was trying what size socket it was to undo it lol

i then spent about an hour pissing about with the piston trying to get it back in...

i ended up taking it out the seal and it does screw in clockwise, but it gets so far and then the thing just spins round and doesnt go in any further? deffo not far enough in to get the disc and pads in

what the hell and i doing wrong as its really starting to piss i off!

i disconnected the handbrake cable, but that done nothing..

if i try and put pressure on the piston and turn it, it doesnt move...

so please help me, i got till about 3pm tomoz to get it sorted as im off to london for the weekend

ps one abs ring came of easy, and new bearings are in the new discs - that bit went ok

the tools very simular to the ford one, with 2 pins that sit in the piston face. If they are the same style as my audi, you need to screew the pistion as its being forced back in ( alot off force needed! ), the ford tool shown below just about does the job
