I noticed a post the other day and the general view on them was that a few peoples mates had had the cerberas and they either blew up or set on fire, however i did a search on google and found a tvr forum and they seemed to think the unreliability issue isnt as bad as most people make out. Now is this the tvr owners being blinkered, or are they realy that bad????????
I was considering a 4.5 cerbera but then thought for a couple of grand more you can pick up a hell of a lot newer t350 which imo SHOULD be a lot more reliable. Please help me cause i dont fancy splashing the cash only to have a more expensive money pit

For the money they cost (I was led to belive - haven't checked it mind - that a P-reg Cerbera 4.5 could be had for around £15k-£20k) there isn't much else that will touch it without spending a LOT more....
But having had one in work to take aprt and mess around with - the build quality is just SHOCKING. Panels don't fit right, gaps looks stupid - the bonnet doesn't close properly and the catch is the most pointless thing I have ever seen. Each side of the car is completely different from the other side, the doors "adjust" when the shut (ie, have to rise or drop to shut properly
) - I'd have one if it was free, but I'd never pay for one - unless I was super minted and £20k was like 20p to me, and then I'd only have one to rag around a track for a bit of fun....

agre with the above m8 i was all set to buy a Tuscan
and its unreal how poor it was put together ,you could see marks in all the sills and door shuts etc where the shell had been badly prep,
It took me all of 5 mins to decide on a porsche boxster over a Tuscan

See i had a test drive in a 4.5 cerbera a few years back and tbh th build quality wasnt that bad tbh, all the panel gaps were ok and the doors didnt drop etc, could it be the few you have seen were just shonky examples. I mean how many saph cossies are out there with shocking panel gaps and it certanly isnt because of build quality. I think i'm just going to have to buy 1 and get t out my system

Get it, rag it, sell it!
Im not sure on the different models, is this the one with the mk3 fiesta back lights? if so someone local to my owns one. Almost everytime i go past theres an AA van outside, I dont know if the van is owned by the same buy or not, i initialy thought it was as it was there so often, but I have seen the bonnet up and an aa man looking at if more than 5 times now.

I was thinking of a Tuscan speed 6 but nearly every early one you see has had a rebuild at circa 30k miles
The price of a 2000 - 2001 model seems very good for what you're getting.. but then again I suppose that says it all really.

At the end of the day, they are hand-built, what other car can you get that's not been on a conveyor belt ? The ones that look 100% right at more like 100K and then some

We've had a chimaera for 2 years, drove it daily and it never missed a beat, I would have another any time.
There are plenty of horror stories out there, mainly from non-tvr owners, and plenty of good stories too... mmm, bit like Fords really

More power than the chassis can handle, noise that's out of this world, imo you haven't lived if you haven't owned a TVR

First one he bought ended up like this after 2 days, due to dodgy fuel lines

Engine was re-built to 4.5 at Austec,he kept it for a couple of months and lost heart and was too worried to boot it so sold it on for the same price as he paid for it,hence losing the 6 grand the engine re-build cost
