Default Revving high question *UPDATED*

My 1st RS turbo question

The car's idling around the 2.5 mark which sucks the big one!!

The idling screw is all the way in so it cant be adjusted anymore - anyone got any ideas?

Look on the bright side mate!! This car is going to save you money in the long run! You arent gonna want to sell the evo anymore and lose money buying something else before realising evo's are best and having to buy another!

Try turning the screw down on the left hand side of the throttle body?? The one that puts tension on the cable.

ah, so you've got a nice airleak somwhere, and the idle mixture screw's been wound right in to put enough fuel in to stop it stalling

start spraying stuff near bits that leak

and without trying to cause offence to Roosie... check everything's connected up the way it should be, dumpvalves, bleedvalvles, actuators etc.

When you push the flap down slightly in the metering unit the rev's do drop down so i thought you was being serious

think you might find the servo might be leaking were that shitty joint it.
there is no bleed valve and has a new pipe on actuator to turbo.

jay, not if you put the fuel in to match.

the screw on the metering unit lifts the flap up more (or down, cant remember which way it is on KE) in its rest position, making it add more fuel

it could have an iffy metering unit, take it off and make sure all the moving bits move freely, and spray SHEDLOADS of wd40 on anything that doesnt move like it should

spray brake cleaner around places and see if the revs rise, when it doe then thats where the air leak is

exactly as jim says apart from dont spray the car with wd40,, brake cleane evaoporates and wd40 with stay there atracting all sorts of dirt/grease and shite and you will NEVER clean it all off

good luck

aj the both do the same, we use brake cleaner at work as we got fucking boxes of the stuff and its 50p a can

it evaporates and makes the revs rise when spraying the engine bay,,,, oh and also helps to clean the engine bay aswell and blows out dust ect

so IMO use brake cleaner,,,, but that is just my opinion based on my experience

aj have you ever thought about buying a reliable jap car ????

this is the reason why i ALWAYS recomend a efi conversion

check the breather pipes theres a t peice near the metering head that comes undone and what happens is you get a anti lag effect when you change gear,,, people adjust shite to hide the bad running rather than spot that fault

i hear evos are decent cars

thats because it'll be overfueling when you push it down too far

the amount of movement you need on the flap is TINY

i'd deffo be checking for an air leak... oh, and check the timing whilst youre there, it might be too far advanced to try and cover the airleak too
