Default actuator question

how can i tell if my s2 is fitted with a -31 actuater, whats the differance between that and a standard one?

on the top surface, there will be some digits, the last ones will be -31

im usre the genuine garret actuators have -31 stamped in them at the back

The difference between the standard -18 (on a Cossie anyway) and a -31 is that the -31 has a stronger spring, which holds the wastegate shut longer, reducing the time it takes the turbo to spool up

It does not affect spool up at all, it merely holds the wastegate shut against MORE pressure so it can provide more, but the spool is not affected as pumping remains the same.

its just im getting a chip on my s2 on weds and i was wondering if my actuater is a -31


it is needed for 14 or so psi on a s2 isnt it?

i will take a pic shortly

14psi will need -31, printed on the last numbers on the front ie *****-31.

Wind it up if it wil not hold 14 either it is knackered or you need a -31 so either way you need one!!
