just5 got a new laptop running vista, so my old printer canon i550x and digi camera ixus v2 plonk the disc in and it throws up issues, so thought no prob ill go to the canon website pucnched in details and what operating system i have etc but no drivers as such come up what do i do?


getting a new machine is such a pain in the arse ive been an hour trying to transfer files and still havent even transfered one lol, tried setting up a wireless pooter too pooter network, they both showed connected but fooked if i could work out how to actually transfer the files lol


but anyways my main concern is me digi camera and me printer working

have you tried running the exe in compatibility mode? (right click)

it may work, ive had SOME joy with that feature, otherwise get on the canon forums someone will have experienced it

seriously thinking of returning this machine this vista is a pain in the arse everythiungs different


the microsoft outlook is cdompletely different ive added the email accounts it downloads the emails etc but i cant reply the bits you click to reply or forward etc are not highlighted


same with the names of the email accounts on the left if i right click to rename its not highlighjted so i cant click that

to be honest its a great looking machine spost to be good as its a core 2 dueo with 2 gig of ram whatever that means pmsl, sceens nice but laptoips fookin huge but it is light

Have you tried plugging the camera in and looking to see if it turns up as a removable drive - if so, you could drag the pictures off of it.

Driver compatibility is a bit of a 'mare each time a new operating system comes out unfortunately....

the problem isn't vista, it's that the camera manufacturer hasn't released drivers (software) that makes their camera work with vista.

also PMSL at taking something back because the newer version of the operating system looks different

The biggest reason people used to have to upgrade Windows was that it was so unstable, however XP in gethe eye candy OSX or Linux has that generally buy it..

The biggest indications that Vista offers nothing new and that people in general are not impressed is the fact that Dell's profits have decreased since the release and the fact that they have now starting selling systems with XP again.

In some offices Microsoft have also returned to running XP due to compatibility issues with hardware and reduced productivity.

i still don't think that vista will "do an ME"

hopefully in the next few years we'll start to see it's potential? (if it has any )

got email woprking now as its all new i just hate it lol, but i remember being the same when first had xp
