the girl counted out the money, and asked me to sign for it...
i was like eh,...she hasnt taken my card...and saw that she had the previous persons card still....
but i said,..."thats not my card..."
she was very embarrased../...

as said the other person wouldnt have suffered, but you wouldnt have got the signature correct and banks are the few people who actually bother to check!
i would have chanced it and signed it anyway, and if she said the sigs dont match say well u aint got my card love!

Well done....
The bank would have got the money off you anyway though I suspect. Times, computer logs, CCTV, etc...
I think I might have played dumb and tried....
She WOULD have check sigs, cards and realised at end of transaction I think though!
Well done for honesty again

Good on you for not taking the money
I dont think you could have got very far with the cash, but you never know. as someone else said carma (Like my name is earl) good things may come from not ripping that person off.....
Hang on, am I the first person to spot then that the guy whose car it was didnt get it back? so he's probibly gona be in some shop somewhere with a loada shoping and not be able to pay for it, poor sod!

I walked up to a cash point one Saturday morning to draw some money, and in the cash dispenser there was a wad of money. Must have been well over £100. I took it out, walked into the bank and handed it over to one of the personal bankers, explaining where I found it. They looked at me as if I was mad to hand it in. Don’t know if the rightful owner every got reunited with their cash.

what if you didn't notice until much later in teh day?
would you have gone back then?
but, tempted as i would have been to take the money and do the proverbial runner, i would not have felt good about it
i once found a bag on my bus which had a few quid in the purse, (bag was on teh seat, i went round a corner on the way back to the depot, bag fell over, purse emptied itself over the floor) i handed it in thinking that even though it was only a few quid, at least i was doing the right thing by filling in the paperwork and all that, this is in the day when very few buses had cameras on them
a few days later i got an envelope containing a nice risp £20 note with a thank you letter
the bag had contained the days taking from the japanesse embasy's currency exchange and was basicly £40k mine for the taking
yes, i did myself a lot, and the other drivers did take the piss out of me for weeks afterwards, and yes, they could have afforded to have lost the money, and yes, i could have spent it much better than anyone else, but i didn't deserve it and the reward was worth more to me than the stolen £40k would have been

Good man. Very honest thing to do Hopefully you will get your reward in heaven or something. Or maybe you can reduce the price of a .63 housing for me seeing as you are so decent

reminds me of last weekend when i was on me way up to coombe.
Was walking over to the cash point in the petrol station, and the bloke who was there at the time jumped in his car and drove off. I got to the cash point and it spat out ten quid
Bloke took his card and obviously forgot to wait for the money. But while i was taking my money out, he never came back, so i pocketed it

One of my mates did it with £300, but it went back into the machine.

Fair play for not taking the £750 and doing the right thing
As for the cash machine mentions - happened to both me and my bro before now. I took out a tenner but forgot to take it from the machine as I was late for work Fortunately some young kid called after me waving this tenner and gave me it. My bro wasn't as lucky - he took out £50 but forgot the cash! 90seconds later he ralised so we went back but it was gone - and no one around... Fortunately he immediately rang HSBC and told them, and they confirmed from their computer he had withdrawn £50 at the time he siad he did so recredited his account
Some people are too honest for their own good tho... My friend went to a cash machine once and asked it for a £20, and it spat out £40. So he took the extra £20 note, and then went straight into the bank the cash point was part of and told them, and handed back the £20 Muppet
