Use the infra red connection. That's what I do.

USB cable?

Wireless is easiest, but slower than having the two connected

You can't use a normal ethernet cable to go PC>PC, you need a 'crossover cable.'

Another option is to take the hard disk out of the old laptop and put it in a caddy that then connects to a USB port.

Here's an example:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-5-USB-2-0-HD...mZ320103770215

Laptop drives are 2.5"

What operating systems are on the 2 machines? That could make networking difficult too, but as Bill says, a normal cable won't work.

get a normal ethernet cable, chop it in the middle and twist the orange white/orange to the green white/green wires and vice versa.

connect the 2 laptops together

give one laptop an ip of 192.168.0.1, and a class c subnet (255.255.255.0) and do the same on the other only with a 192.168.0.2 ip address.
then pop in explorer and SHARE the folder(s) you want the other laptop to see

then on other computer, open windows explorer and type 192.168.0.X (X being other computer), then simply drag and drop!

easiest and fastest way.

otherwise just burn a few dvd's
