Default traffic light camera's?

right the girlfriend has gone through a set of lights as they were just turning red. she said she see 2 flashes so im guessing that shes gonna get a few points for that. but can they track your speed on those camera's too??? as she's a bit worried noe that shes gonna get an extra 3 points for that as well....?

if anyone knows of any useful info it will be much appreciated

Some of the newer one's can. I would say that if it flashed twice, that it probably is measuring speed too.

I'm quite sure that the second pic is just to prove that you're moving forward..... (also meaning that you can't say it was triggered by you reversing back over the line with broken reverse lights!)

Ive never heard of a traffic light camera being able to check speed. The two flashes are for as Ade said above. I wouldnt worry about getting done for speeding.

And remember, just because she got flashed, doesnt mean she will definalty get a ticket as many still flash even though there not in use. Always better to expect the worse though, so itll just be Ł60 and 3 points.

Ive also known people go through on amber when its changed to red just as the back end of the car goes through the line, get flashed and nothing happen so she 'may' be ok, but as said expect the Ł60 and 3 points and its a bonus if she gets off.

The mini-gatsos have a short delay after the red light to allow for traffic still leaving the junction. These can't measure speed.

The other types of junctions cameras [/i]may[/i] be able to - I'll have to read up on those.

Yup. Was bad when there used to be a speed camera halfway with 30mph limit downhill... had to take care not to go over 30mph and was overtaken by a young lad on a bike!!

Glad it got moved...

I've seen pictures where someone has jumped a light and I'm sure it says the speed.

Whether they use it to prosecute, I don't know.

However, you will probably be OK on the speed as there are no calibration lines painted on the road

There are other ones too, mounted INSIDE the GREEN light and look through a little lens, about the size of a 10p piece.

They don't use film, they use discs to record, and immages are downloaded by telephone cable once a week.

Yes, which means you can't pull it down, set it on fire, etc - it's already sent to the central server via ADSL.

lol i dont jump red lights fuck that.

a12 between romford and m25 is 3rd most dangerous rd in uk, prob due to all the junctions and crossroads on it, no wonder there is so many traffic light cameras there, fast road bet loads of people have been killed in the past there

did you know that them 3 points for jumping a light are infacr FAR worse than 3 points for speeding and she WILL notice it on her insureance renewal.

it is deemed that you are a risk taker/dangerous driver if you jump a light

Yes your right mate they do have a cover over if not in use. What i meant was that some have films in and some dont but flash regardless.

there are several down this neck of the woods that are both

anyone who travels along the great west road will notice them at almost every junction

little lines painted on the floor sort of give the game away

Some of the cameras fitted to traffic lights are dual cameras - speed when the lights are green or yellow and redlight camera when the lights are at danger

Must be one of the most bullshit places to put a camera in the whole of the uk. Blatantly there to make money as it was pretty much hidden and down a hill and i've never seen an accident on that bit of the hill...
