Default My Pod runs with "the youth"

The Escos belongs to "the youth" off here. Had a load of boozy banter about this the night before, and I was quite confident my Focus would piss it. The Escos is stg 1 & decatted. My FRS has B'fin, M'goose decat & zorst and Gen 2.

No shit he was.

It is generally quicker mate, can't compete with a 4x4 from a standing start tho, this sounds like excuses but my boost/torque is limited in 1st and 2nd too, otherwise i'd still be sat on the start line now.

Fair play to Steve tho, he beat me even with a weight disadvantage , and did a cracking start, although I crossed the line considerably faster...

Have to say I was so relieved when I got half way down the track and by then I knew I wasn't going to be caught..
myself and plynchy had some great light hearted banter preceding the event as to who's is the fastest, what I expected to happen didin the fact that I knew I would get away off the line it was just a metter of could I get to the finish before he caught me although I did think it would be very close at the end but 4/5 car lengths would take some catching up.

plynchy was about 5 mph faster than me at the finish so would have passed me if he had another 1/4 mile to use!!!

fair play to plynchy for taking his spanking like a man!!!!

Edit: The finish was VERY close 0.6 secs on both runs, thats a long blink.

There have known to be a couple of STD FRS's to do 14.3's.
Maybe down to bad start for you?

Thats impossible for a std FRS to do a 14.3.

I ran a 14.5 and have about 30bhp over std, bishman's ran a 14.1 and that had 60 bhp over std.

I thought i saw kennys running 14.1 aswell and im sure thats not std

If a FRS has run a 14.3 it defo wasnt std.

Well, much to my embarrasment, i've found the times for a std FRS........

14.9 @ 98 mph. Bugger.

That said, it's the first time i've EVER had a go, and i'm not chasing better figures as after 3 runs with very similar times/speeds I figure that without a power hike or some major launch improvements i'm not going to get faster and couldn't give a fuck TBH. It's good fun but i'd rather do a track day.

And Alps, it must be REALLY difficult launching a car with as much torque as an electric toothbrush...

paul your times wern't embarasing, they were quicker than standard so your mods work, in drag racing it's over so quick you need huge changes in specifcation to make a noticable difference to times. I did 14.2 but without loads more power it isn't going to dip into the 13's. my saph was a strong stage 3 and did 13.3 that wasn't going to make 12's on it's spec either..

Just had another look at the stats for a std car. 0-100 takes 16.4 secs but the 1/4 takes 14.9 @ 98 mph.

It can't possibly take another 1.5 secs to do 2mph??

All bollocks anyway

Not sore mate, hence the .

I've got a Cossie as well and dare say that it would beat the FRS up a strip due to the ease of getting off the line being RWD, track however is an entirely different matter, and thats a FRS on std suspension/brakes...

ROFLOL, and how many £k's have been spent on Cosworths in that extra decade that have melted pistons, cracked heads or blocks and bent valves.

Would like to compaire the FRS after a few more of the engine's have been "opened" up and rebuilt rather than just ecu adjustments and bolt on performance bits.

My car has done none of the above and that's because its been built by someone who knows what they are doing its broken a coulple of gearboxes though buts that's a well known comman fault with 4x4's when you are pumping nuff power through them,

que the hairdressers driving car the focus everyone that i 've come up against out on the street I blown to pieces now go and put the kettle on and go to the shop in your focus and get me some chocolate hob nobs

Congratulations on the wins Steve! Nice to finally meet you after all this time.

I did think there was a little bit of gamesmanship going on on the first run though with Steve very reluctant to pull up to the start line. I did think that the Cosworth would've won more convincingly though so fair play to the Focus RS.

I think I took a video of the first run but it hasn't got any audio.

You was never going to win with FWD! You need to take it to a track and that should be better? I must say I love both the cars.

Nah, on a twisty road I think the Box may well have them both licked, but not a chance in a drag race mate, looking at the stats for a 3.2 tho I think we'd both be in trouble, especially over 100.

The FRS is never going to be the quickest 1/4 mile car, due to it being front wheel drive...

But on the track, the FRS (with standard suspension, and brakes) would completely kick cossie arse and thats if the cossie doesnt break down first
