He definately hasn't run a 11 yet as he has been saying how close he is now.

No idea what he has done to it over Christmas but its a bit quicker and with some proper tires I'm quite sure he will run a 11.

I was covinced the gearbox in that would be a crock of shit for trackdays but in sports auto mode its mental, it never lets the revs drop below 3k iirc and blips the throttle on downchanges

it sounded mental and never flynched during any gearchange!

I have heard the box is no good for anything over 350bhp though, don't know if there is any truth in it?

Cant deny its a seriously fast car though, makes my mates 11.9 run in his nova look VERY slow
If they are R888s (which they look like) then they are 100% road legal.

Love to have sleeper (ish) car that went like that one does!

Plenty of spangly Zetec Turbo this n thats tho.

And ones well over 300 that still run 13s or 14s.

Even 370-380bhp is nothing for a 10sec car, youl be lucky to see Cossies with that power in the low 12s.

That thing has managed 1.6 60fts, its not about the power...

True, But how many run the quarter. this car is probably built for the strip..Not many RST's are.

Either way, I couldnt give a flying.. The Golf's time is top, And tbh, I've always had a soft spot for them

Its deffo not built for the strip, its pretty usual TBH, just set up nicely.

No 195/40s and "slammed on konis with poly bushes innit bruv" there

IIRC from what i remember, it looked like most 1.8T enginebays, its not mega power so nothing radical was done.

Or to say that in less words, no, no i havent, sorry.

There is no way that they are 888's.

They are proper drag radials, no idea if they are road legal or not.

I'd practically bet money that those tyres are R888's.

Ha, sorry I have seen this thread elsewhere so I never bothered to look at the picture on this thread.

On the day he was running tires with HUGE sidewalls, jacked the back end up fair bit too.

He fitted the slicks and jacked it up once he got to the pod, then changed it all back for the road and drove it home.

I very much doubt a set of 888's are going to get you into the 1.4 60ft's There good, but not that good

Suck me sideways. That looks a bit different.

I still say they are R888's in the first pic though.

I agree they are 888's in the first pic.

My mates best 60ft on 888's on his nova was 1.9 with a 11.9 run there after running about 400bhp

Gaz'd Corsa runs BF Goodrich tyres and he is only in the 1.9's too.

My mate occasionally runs 1.4 60ft's in his Corvette running MT street tyres so I'm very interested in how the fook they got a fwd motor to hook up like that.

Heard about this the other day, a friend of ours is a bit peeved he hasn't finished his mk1 Golf yet - he's using 20v head and 8v block turbo'd IIRC

The one we're talking about did 1.6 60ft on that run, and 1.5 on a previous.

Perhaps Andyno1 can get the full spec from edition38? I don't really want to sign up to a forum I wont use to search it!

I consistently ran 1.6 60ft times on my old engine with 370bhp 4WD. This sort of 60ft time is classed as very good for a road car. BUT... this Golf is getting that time with 2WD.... so must be a right weapon! Hats off.

Jame's car isn't just a 1/4 mile queen either, it has done 177 mph @ Brunters.

Makes my 14.3 @ 96mph from last Sunday seem very slow

Then the front engine mount stud snapped in the afternoon.

My girlfriend has a Golf R32 with Schrick cams etc, wonder if she'll miss her engine? it'd go well in my mk2 (mine's 'just' a 2.8 12v VR6)
