hello people can anyone share some knoledge on what to look out for on these cars....dont really know much about diesels,but have a v6 petrol one

my mate bought a new one about six months ago, 6 speed one. apparantly the gear box is fooked and he has a hire car now as they are on back order because they have ran out

I have one. A great car which pulls around 50MPG on motorway runs.
Watch out for dodgy electrics.
Such as engine management light coming on for no reason.
Heres mine.

I have the 2.2dti cdx version (2001) goes well for a diesel,very well specced(leather,climate, xenon's, cruise control etc. averages around 50 mpg on a run. No problems yet only had a fuse blow causing the drivers xenon headlight not to work. Ideal workhorse

I have a v6 sri and looked into getting a diesel one and was told in no uncertain terms keep the v6 even though i get sick of bunging petrol in it

...........i like vectras.........but lets face it the v6 is not out flash..........was thinking of getting the 2.5 Gsi, but going for a diesel cos they can be tweeked cheap enough and still do plenty m.p.g...i chuck £70+ in the saff every week and when i drive the vectra i only get 23m.p.g cos u have to rag its arse over 4k to get it to move...........time for a change

looked at a gsi mate and didnt think it was worth all the extra money but i too love the old vectras especially the sri,s i do think think the gsi,s look the bollocks though
