Having discovered that photoshop can bring what seems like crap pictures back to perfectly aceptable ones!

good report stu

i know what you mean about the organisation. why do people let you down like that? what the hell is wrong with them? i also keep it down to a group of about 8 mates that i know will come if they say they will

will have to do that off roading one day, plus we didn't get a chance to go karting this year, and i want to hire a bike and ride around the track to get pictures some time as well

Ditto. Sounds like we need to meet up next time. Oh... we tried that this time didnt we?

Us seasoned organisers should have thought of exchanging phone numbers eh?

In light of this post, would you say it had gotten too big now.

I mean, obviously going Easter weekend, it's going to be mobbed, but did you not find it better with a smaller more compact group?

When we went over, I think it was only 15 cars, and meant we all ate and drank in the same place all the time.

in some ways yes, but that's why i normally go at least twice per year

obviously the car park is more interesting at easter if a big group goes, because then it's full of fords and not VAG crap or whatever - great if you have ford blinkers

Very nice report Stu, you have done a lot of miles in a very short time!

I also hate going over to the UK by boat for a Ford meeting.... I really dont like sailing, makes me very nervous.

It was fun to speak to ForeignRS, Chip3drs, Shitbox, Nicole and the Diva of PF.

Till next time guys!

Easter is fine by me, just make sure you personally travel and take care of only a small group.

Having 10 small groups is fine, as long as you dont all try to do everything together. Dopes that makes sense?

Very good and detailed report stu, with good pictures as well

Few questions about it though, anyone can answer!

How much does it roughly cost to go over, from going through the tunnel, fuel, food and drink, hotels, and ring ticket prices?

Im really keen to go to the ring sometime soon,

and with buying a 1.8 focus in 2 months, ive got some time to improve the suspension and brakes and do some basic engine mods before possibily going on the september trip,

I am jealous of anyone that goes to the ring when i'm not with them!

Its a truely awesome place!

(scarier on a bike though! )

You've asked the how long is a piece of string question! Car on the ferry is usually about 130 quid (dover-calais) if you shop around. Hotels in Adenau aren't at all expensive but can be booked up well in advance!!

If you have a long time to plan it, book the Hotel Au Nordshcleife (I think its called that!) it overlooks the mid point of the track at Adenau, with balconies overlooking the track. It cost me 35 euros a night in 2005.

65 euros gets you 5 laps (I don't know if thats changed in the last couple of years!?)

Food is quite reasonable in restuarants around Adenau, but you can always visit a supermarket and get some quality bread, cheese and ham for sarnies if you're on a tight budget!

Biggest thing that did me was the petrol!

(PS**********NOTE ETC*******) If you crash or breakdown and you haven't got an ADAC (German AA) card, it will cost you at least 175euros to get off the track, then you have to pay for damage to Armco/clean up of oil/damage to vehicles and in (Very) extreme cases loss of earnings if the track is shut (only if you cause it to be shut for long periods-which would probably make you a legend and be worth it!)

The ADAC wagon will tow you to a garage that is very helpful in this case and the AA will take your car home from it if it can't be fixed! (if it's worth more than the recovery cost - read the small print!)

Our Costs for 2 people:
Ferry across including accommodation for 2 people: £300
Fuel for 700 miles @ 25mpg = 28 gallons: £120
Greencard for insurance policy: £30
European breakdown cover addition (RAC etc): £66
Total travelling costs: £516

Additional costs to be there:
Travel insurance: £50
Camera insurance: £60
B&B for 5 nights: £200
Food at £40 per day for 5 days: £200
Total Outlay so far: £1026
Extras not listed above:
Every lap of the ring: (£11.50 ticket + approx £6 fuel) £17.50

I personally bought 32 laps and did an additional 5 that passengers paid for. This added £590 to my ring trip Bill.

Total outlay for Nicole and I to go there and do 37 laps = £1616.00

Its all pretty much in there as in reality we didnt really eat £40 a day of food. Off roading was only 35euros per hour for the 2 of us.

Newbies may want to visit the motor museum as well though, and thats about 20 euros i think. Perhaps the sastle too, that was about 10 euros.
