has anyone put this onto there PS3 yet? I hadnt heard of it until Thrush metioned it..
At the moment I can quite happily use the internet via the PS3.. looks good on big TV plus youtube vids are good on the surround
.. So whats the advantage running linux on it?
Ideally Id like to store stuff on the PS, like films, music videos etc..
Can this be done?
thanks

Can't mate, maybe tomorrow. The girlfriends hogging the TV now
Anyway I think i just got lucky, also, I got the impression you tried to ram me off the edge but missed in spectacular fashion and sent yourself flying.. ?
Try and organise a game for tomorrow night, get the rest of them too. Apparently Fiddy's quite good from what i've read so don't invite him lol

Linux on the playstation platform has been available since the PS2 when Sony decided to release Linux for it because it allows the system to be defined as a computer which means they pay less tax in the EU than they would for importing and distributing an entertainment system
heres the information regarding how to do this.

I just hope it has more fuctionality than PS2 Linux did which was an official Sony release as this was very poor for a long while.
The official PS Linux site can be found here

As well as YDL (yellow dog linux) I am aware of a PS3 running slackware, debian and BSD.
It was never going to be a difficault port because the PS3 processor is basically a development of the RISC architecture that ran on the Apple Mac platform before it moved to x86 processors rather than something new and Linux has been available for RISC for as long as I can remember
