Default ever stayed at a airport hotel and used their parking scheme

im off to mexico soon and just trying to work out the best way to get to the airport and back.

a cab is around 50 quid from my house to gatwick.

so was thinking of staying at one of the hotels near by and leaving my car there while im away.

has anyone ever done this at gatwick?
would you reccomend it? if so what hotel did you use?

When I flew out of heathrow to SA last year I used purple parking. Basically you book on line, grab your ticket at the entrance and leave you car and key in the allocated space. They then transport you to the correct terminal, sorted.

Think the name of the company has changed but there is loads that do it. At the time I only had to pay £40 for 2 1/2 weeks.

I went to Malia about 4 years ago, it was total carnage! Don't think the bird will be up for me going back there!

Hire a punto or fiesta for about £18 or a panda if your a real tight arse from a local Hertz branch and take it one way to the airport and dump it there at the Hertz terminal branch.

I wouldn't, they ragged the arse off my car and it came back slightly broke.

Why not get the Gatwick Express train - drops you outside the terminal you need

£50 to be picked up from your front door and taken directly to the Terminal. Or worrying about your car while you're away/don't forget airports and station car park are car thieves paradise.
Simple choice if you ask me.

I used a parking scheme near to gatwick last year and they spot on. Ill try and get the details off my old man but basically you go to this huge car park and you book your car in, its then taken to its allocated space by one of their driver who didnt cane it whatsoever. Then about every 15mins a coach arrives and you just get on with your cases and it drops you off at gatwick which is only 10 mins away. The car park has loads of cctv and is very secure. I dropped my motor off and it came back with exactly the same ammount of miles on it. Ill try and find out the number and address again as i will be using it again this year.

Oh yeah and when you return you just find the coach point and they take you back to your car..easy peasy

normally i'd get someone to drive one of our 6 cars to the airport for me

but i think check in is at 7:30am. i feel out of order asking anyone to drive round the m25 at that time in the morning.
getting back for work then is gonna be tough.

also staying in a local hotel means over an hour extra in bed, which will help the jet lag on the 10hr flight. well that and im a lazy fucker.

the money aint the issue. ive spent enough on the bloody holiday and spending money.
its just the ease of staying local. as long as i park my car in a decent place and take the keys with me it'll be cool.

if its sounding dodgy i'll just get a cab, he can sit in the traffic on the return trip
