Someone recommend a freeview box to me
Basically, Ive got telewest and I only really use it for the SCART output, never really watch the channels, hence waste of money..
So just need a freeview box really, can anyone recommend one, Ive seen em for about £20-£25
Thanks

I havent had any experience with the cheapo ones. But ive got a Goodmans one with a hard drive which i paid 99.99 for at Asdas. Its really good and hasnt let me down once. Really easy to set it to record things with its program guide. Defo worth the money

In the main, freeview boxes are much of a sameness.
They all share pretty much the same internals and are all built to a price, so really, pick the one that has the connections you need and looks nicest
Also make sure you have a decent external aerial for the best reception

I've use Akura's bought from Macro. I had a digibox I paid about £70 for with a card reader but it never picked anything up. The akura picks up perfectly. I ended up buying 5 of them, one for each telly.
Edit - forgot to say they are £20+vat

I've got a Thomson DTI 1000 and think its great. Had decided to upgrade to the later 2300 and it is mince! Not at all user friendly or intuitive.
Only thing to watch for on the 1000 is ensure that the software has been upgraded to the 7day epg - they aren't broadcasting it any more and it makes the box much easier to programme for timed recording - just point and click, instead of sialling in date, channel start-time and duration.

Couple years ago I got my mum a couple of the cheapo Tesco "Digihome" boxes - £29.99 each or something. Been virtually faultless and do just what you want em to do - output a decent looking Digital TV signal to the TV With the bonus of having a second scart to plug into the VCR so you can record things....
I bought myself a "Dual" (basically a rebranded Goodmans/Vestal/Digihome product for Asda) Freeview PVR from Asda for £80 a while ago. Twin tuners, internal HDD (80gb, but good for nigh on 40hrs of recording) and optical audio output - again, so far has worked fantastic and the recording quality is superb. Unlike DVD recorders (which obviously are better than VHS), a Freeview PVR records the actual data bitstream of the broadcast, not just the "video content" of it - so you get all the programme info, subtitles, times, dates etc, but most of all, it's bit-perfect of the original, and when comparing, I think it's better than a DVD Recorder recording of a Freeview channel
