driveshafts out
diff out
on the bench
updo the locking rings
undo the bearing rings
remove bearings with hammer
you will probably find that the diff will need to come out but this will be more work but it's only punching out the pins from the little gears inside and then stripping it out
knock the new bearings in and refit
ok, so i've made it sound really easy and i assume you it's not, mainly because there is a tool to remove the bearing holders otherwise you tend to span the little teeth off

Hi Kev,
I was sent this link when i stripped my 2wd diff down.
http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/...ffOverhaul.pdf
It was ok to strip but the bearing housing were in very tight and were a bit of a pain to get out! It would most definately be much easier if you have the correct tools.
When mine was stripped i found all of the gears inside the diff were either badly worn or chipped
I did manage to get them new from Ford though
I got a guy at work to set the diff backlash/bearing etc for me.
Im pretty sure Marco would be your man to talk to if you dont fancy it yourself
Cheers
Mart

so how much work is it to remove the diff???
i leave the rebuilding to the pros like marco
mines coming out soon, just deciding whether to get the garage to do it, or remove it myself

Quite heavy, don't drop it on your head
![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Torx bolts that hold driveshafts can be an arse
![Wall](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/wall.gif)
Just get a good quality torx socket, and clean all the years worth of shit out of the torx bolts before you try undoing them
