Default Faith in human nature restored

Had a few little jobs to do on the three door today and one of them was fit a new rotor arm as it didnt get fitted when the headgasket etc was done at the start of the year.

Anyway, got it all done, said to the missus, who was buftying her S2.. back in a mo, just going to rip the cossie up the road.

Off we go, let the old girl warm up and then give it a bootful... next thing pop bang pop bang bang.... Bluuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrr cut out.

Luckily I'd managed to swing it round into a junction off the main road.

Tried to re-start it, started on 2 cylinders and wouldnt rev....

Well I was shittin it...

After closer inspection it appeared the newly fitted rotor arm had sheered in two....

So I thought I'll just ring the missus and get her to bring the old one.. then realised no phone, no wallet, no old part and no way to contact the missus as I couldnt remember her mobile number.

So I'm stood with the two parts of a rotor arm in my hand thinking what the fook am I going to do now, its a 3 mile walk home and do I really want to leave the cossie unattended when all of a sudden I hear a voice say.. 'Having problems son ?' and I looked up and there was a chap out walking his dog... and he says, looks like a bosch rotor you go there... I said yes I think so.. and he says... probably got one in my garage, I'll just finish walking the dog then you can come and get it, I only live up the road.

So 5 minutes later we walk back to his house and he has a rummage in the garage, no rotor, but he has got some superglue, so we glue the rotor back together, tape the shaft for good measure and then he runs me back to the car in his Merc and says if this doesnt hold I'll run you home so you can get the old one...

Anyway popped it in.. fired up and purred like a kitten..

What a top chap... most people would have just walked on by...

Gonna stick a wine voucher in the post to him just to show my appreciation.

So... just goes to show there are still some decent people left in this country

You should really take him for a spin in your cossie, that is bound to make him smile!!.
It is so nice to see people like this are still around though, and you for the gift to him.
When I flaked out recently at the VETS he gave me a big DOG BISCUIT, apparently to stop me biting my toungue!!, did not like it though!!
