No offence but the worst thing you can do is race him for several reasons
his car will out handle yours
brake better
and not blow up after a got old thrashing lol
Just save your money and accept the fact that there will always be something quicker out there

Pretty quick cars the civic type-r's. People often seem to forget that there just an n/a 2.0.
As said above though a civic type-r is obviously a far more superior car to an RST in every way in my opinion. Maybe if you have decent suspension and brakes you may do 'ok' but you'd need a fair bit more power than 165bhp mate, to get anywhere near it.

Not quick
Test drove them at work and also went for a 'test drive' at a dealership when i thought about selling my old series 2 rst for one
Handles great and good stopping power but was no where as quick as my 200bhp rst
Used to race one in the mornings to work Was fun always nailing him apart from the one time there was no way to pass him so i sat on his bumper as he couldnt pull away, got upto the round about and that was the test of the brakes

one tried to get away from me the other day in my 170bhp rst n i could keep up easy on the streights but he was quicker round the corners.
but when i get my cam and intercooler he wont b able to get away from me round the corners cuz i would have already over taken him ... hopefully lol

Professional Waffler
The guy who lives over the road from me was gutted as his Type R couldn't keep up with my Fiesta RS Turbo and that only has 167bhp at the moment.
Have driven a couple of CTR's and once you get over the funny gearlever position (which I understand they've moved again for the new cars) they are cracking fun and with a filter on they sound the nuts when VTEC kicks in. I quite like them as far as they go although wouldn't personally have one

Yeah the brakes are better but IMO they are highly overrated.
Leave them for the Jap Lovers and stick with a well tuned RST.

My old RST had a 1.9, stage 3 head, cam and big coolered up and i wasn't getting by him.
Suppose it'll vary so much, folk with less power are beating them and folk with more power are losing against them. Strange really..
Once they get into that Vtec they pull and pull. But getting there feels like forever sometimes.

Simple fact is that the CTR is a better car by a country mile. Get the CTR, and leave the RS Turbos to the council estate racers.

Mate, honestly I don't care.
Proving how one shitbox of a Ford might be 0.01 seconds quicker than a very good standard car means fuck all to me.
Bottom line is the CTR is better. The End.

Every post i read of yours recently you seem to be climbing on your high horse? Is it so hard to realise that other people may prefer shitbox fords?
Cheers for the replies chaps, ill need to fob him off for a bit by the looks of it

Holier than thou? I'm not anti-Ford. Just anti-RS Turbo
Simple facts mate.
People seem to be under the assumption that the RS Turbo is some sort of driver's car, when in reality, it's an average engine in a terrible car.
When it comes to which is "better" per se, the CTR is playing Premiership football, where the best the RST can hope for is a Johnstons Paint Trophy final place!

pmsl Coldo. Just at end of day say the Civic type R is newer by like 10 years etc
Im getting one as i fancied a fun car with some warrenty left on it. Will do a track day in it as done some research and everyone raves about how much of a good car they are. And i mean out of the box. im not into chucking loads of cash at cars now, if they are good std then so be it. Much, much less hassel that way.
Quite looking forward to get mine and im not. I dont like buying a new car incase i wasted shit loads of money Will see what happens.....

Haha, dont get me wrong, im not disputing what the better car is!
Just think its a bit shit how people go on about them being "council estate racers" i'd say those days have been and gone, most RST owners tend to be enthusiasts more than anything.
Still choose the rst over the typeR tho

doubt anyone who lives in a council estate could afford such rs turbos being over 2.5k for a decent one + £££ maintainance
also the civic type r is turning into a chavs car in my opinion with the amount i see in them
alot of rs turbo owners are dedicated ford fans who are very enthusiastic about the car and what they do to it!
(i think the type r is ok myself but wouldnt not buy one for lots of reasons)
