Oh yes my old Integra Type-R would annihilate most sub-200 BHP Escorts and whip the ass of the Civic Type-R.

1.8 and 190bhp, but they rev to just under 10,000 rpm

When your Escort is running out of puff, these things are just getting their second wind.

And the gearing is set for 145 max, so the acceleration is lightning quick.

Don't think i ever turned the radio on in mine, the exhaust note was all I needed

My Cossie has no CD player at the moment for that very same reason!

I've never driven a Civic (of any 'Type'), and don't think I want to - I've always seen them as 'old people's cars and chavs cars, just my humble opinion. And I couldn't deal with waiting for the power to come in at electric-toothbrush rpm - I'm too in love with my turbo!!

But as they say, different strokes for different folks - I love my Cossie, others don't - fair enough

Nothing wrong with a Cossie (or an ERST for that matter). Different types of power.

Beat one in a straight line with around 200bhp in my ERST, no way you would keep with one on the twisties.

i ve had rs turbos and now i have a 54 plate type r!

it starts every time and is problem free!

rs turbos are not good as an every day car!

and why is every one going on about blowing them away?? if you spent a fraction of the money that most waste on a rs turbo you could put a supercharger on a type r and hit 300bhp trouble free!

dont get me wrong i love my fords but there comes a time in my life where i cant be fooked layin under me motor all weekend!

im building my fiesta track car as a hobby but it dont soak up as much time as my rs turbo did!

Tbh everyone goes on about how tunable rst's are and how non tunable hondas and other jap stuff is. Its comical cause i think everyones computers must be editing all the video's of fwd civics doing low 10's nd some even into the 9's.

Hondas rule ok punks(well ek civics and dc2's)

My old DC2 only had basic bolt on mods but didn't have any problem seeing off a 'so called' 210bhp RST a clean pair of heels.

Oh and found this pic of my old teg Alps:

surprising the amount of people on "passionFORD" that slate them , a good dice with another make of car is what makes modified cars so much fun imho , I have had loads of good tear ups with evos/ scoobys, CTRS and any other car you care to mention, 95% have been friendly blats and end up with a nod/wave/thumbs up etc whoever won -

Sure a civic type R probably is a "better" car, but IMHO has nowhere near the character/looks of most of the RS range, and it has to be said, I don't particually like RST's, but they are strong survivor of the 80's hot hatch generation, and they are still here in force, much like Cossies etc, as they are just plain good fun and piss easy to tune

Pon i've only met you i once an i thought you were a cunt, you and the other toss pots who cant use a spanner in that place ripped the fucker off pure a simple, we drove 30miles back to walden, when the heap of scrap you said you had set up and rebuilt blew the oil filler cap off, and this wasnt the first time, fuck me even if carl was a complete toss pot it should of lasted more than the trip home dont you think.

what do you do for a living by the way, was sit behind a desk last time i saw, tea boy?

if any one on here wants to buy an rst let them it is passionFORD after all, and what is so wrong with living on a council estate anyway?? not all as lucky as you i guess?

fookin ell sounds like passionforhatingford.com again, if its not escorts and civics, its evos and cossies! lets not forget erst's were designed in 1986 by Ford, and ctr's were designed in about 1999 by Honda, if they werent a bit better with 13 years more technology and honda behind them there'd be something wrong!

but fair play to erst's for being good enough to still spark argumet about which one is better

Thick? I would say so. Based on having met you (and pretty much everything you've written on this post), it would seem more than obvious. Don't you even realise your own place in this world. Keep looking up mate

My Fiesta XR2 when it was a 1.6 with bieges, 4x4 turbo, intercooler and MSD chip used to leave my mates Type R for dead on more than a few occasions.

Its not a hate ford thread its a i love fords so much i still think that a car designed in 1986 is as good as a modern day car. I could then argue the other way that the dc2 itr was designed in 96 is only a 1.8 na and ford produced a frs years later which is a .0 turbo and still isnt as fast.

O then theres the argument "ye but bluefin the focus blah blah blah". So does that mean that they need tuning to be any good.

What i'm getting at is that people compare bog standard to modded and the modded rst's are just to say beating or keeping up with ctr's tune a ctr and it would be a fair race and even all you blinkered lunatics could shurely see the out come

judging by this thread i may have to borrow my mates civic type-r and see what all the fuss is about?

dont really like it myself, its a bit bulbous, but the noise with vtec and filter is pretty cool

shame he drives it like a pussy

Type r's are great if you like thrashing cars all the time, i prefer power delivery of an FRS but diff strokes for diff folks, it what makes the world go round ( apart from the gravitational force of the sun etc etc )

However i will concur that the steering isnt the greatest. Also they look hideous, and the amazing revolutionary gearstick position has now been dropped for the new model

Nothing very exciting Matt - just kids being kids.

As for the CTR, I actually don't like them all that much. Plenty of other cars out there (Clio 182, FRS, Mini CooperS etc) that I'd have above it, but you can't deny its sheer ability.

I drove a ctr and found it boring tbh, the itr is a much much better drivers car. If you want to see what all the fuss is about go drive a dc2 integra with some breathing mods
