just take care, it is a very grey area the ring with regards to insurance as it is a public road so you should be covered, BUT some policys have a clause stating your not insured on a derestricted toll road which is what the ring is..

Can we get back on topic with this and talk about where he might be able to get insurance for the ring as its less than 48 hours till he intends to be driving there?

Does anyone know of a company who will do short term cover for the ring?

Or anyone know of anyone who does cover that has a 14 day cooling off period perhaps?

Graham is properly fucked at the moment and not sure what the options are????

All UK insurers have to offer a 14 day 'cooling off' period under FSA rulings.

Try to avoid a specialist insurer or broker as they are getting wise to the Ring and will have Specific Exclusions for Ring use.

The big boys dont Specifically exclude (no doubt they will wriggle if you do bin it on the track- but this will be after the fact and will offer you the 3rd party cover that you need)

DO NOT ring up and ask about Ring cover as the underwriters will bin you over the phone quicker than you can say Nordschleife.

Go through the online policies (and read ALL the small print).

You could be smart and get a 'vaguely' worded policy, go to the Ring, drive at 85%, return safe and sound and cancel the cover subject to an admin charge (will be about Ł15-20ish)

Good luck!!!

im covered !!!

im with gsi southern, call em up and ask for phil or benn, they will tell you all the loop holes ( there class like that) honestly there the best

i got a my renew policy off em at ALOT of money this time, infact 25% MORE THAN Aplan quoted me, when i got my confimation letter i noticed alot of missing info ( driving other cars, european cover, blah blah blah) callem em up and got told that will all be on my certificate when i accept it, so i check to be sure

I DONT HAVE EUROPEAN COVER NOR DO I HAVE DRIVING OTHER CARS !!!

fuckings shite company so went back to gsi southern and ive got all my cover INCLUDING THE RING for just over 500 notes fully comp

seriously give em a shot as there class people,,, though ive never had a claim yet but they did get scan me my cert so i could print it and get ny car taxed when i lost mine

ive told them im going to the ring, they said aslong as its not over 7 days then im covered !
