Zetec and RPM
#81
std st170 rev limit is 7350rpm. zetec crank is good for 8000rpm no prob on N/A. std pistons and rods are good for 7750 rpm but rod bolts are advisable over 7350 rpm. tappets will do 9000 rpm on a silvertop.
oil pump doesnt seem to be problem on a N/A engine to 8000rpm but it does seem to be a lottery on a turbo zetec. st 170 rods and pistons are different and better than normal zetec.
i had billet gears made for the silvertop but no one really wanted them to make it a worthwhile exercise
my dunnell 1800 zetec rolling roaded at 203bhp but is about 197bhp just now as the torque curve was much better when we swung the cams.
dunnell are the people to speak to...
