I dug a hole in our garden to put a deck at ground level, but then got side tracked. All we have now is a hole with gravel in and lots of car parts strewn about the place!!!!

Can't wait to see Stavros post up a pic on here on this topic, I can imagine him having a hot tub and surrounded by Hunnies in bikinis! Typical life for the Glousctershire version of Superfly!

Can you put them on decking or do you need a concrete base?

Ours is on decking, made it really strong, and added lots of supports where you wouldn't normally need them.

Concrete base can be used too, but it has to be 100% flat, there is no adjustment on the tubs, and if the floor isn't flat, the tub will distort and possibly crack

This was our ( small ) summer project last year!

Remove 90 tonnes of soil:

Little Lewis helping with his digger

Add 60 tonnes of crushed bricks and hardcore:

Then add 30 tonnes of sand and flatten:

Then it was time to add the cement ( came to just over Ł3000 in the end ) and it just so happened to come on the 3 hottest days of the year

Left to go off for a couple of weeks, Then time to order the stables which luckily, were put up by the people who built them! Couldn't find any pics of the actual build of the stables though

That was last year, now the menage is fully post and rail fenced all around, gates into the fields done, post and rail fence with a 12ft gate at the end of the yard so it's all contained, i've built a 12ft x 6ft steel reinforced tackroom in the barn and we put up another stable and a 12 x 12ft barn the other side of the menage too!!

All that and i can't stand horses Things we do for love ( and keeping the woman quiet ! ) eh chaps??

Do the pumps have to run all the time on hot tubs? Our next-door neighbour has one installed, and all I can hear is the low level hum of their pump running all the time. It’s starting to piss me off, when I try and sleep at night, and sit in the garden during a nice warm still day.

Depends on the tub, but generally they will go through one or two cycles a day to clean the water, ours has an ozone generator which helps kill bacteria and that is on during those two cycles only.

Also, to keep the water warm, it has to circulate through the heating element, so basically, yes, it runs pretty much all the time

You could ask them to see if they can time the cycles at more appropriate times of the day. Ours is programmable, and we've set it so that it doesn't run late at night, or, too early in the morning
