I was having thoughts of ripping out that horrid leather trim and replacing it with just two recaros
How much are roll cages for an ERST and how hard are they to fit??
Anyone got any pics of one installed? And is it gonna make my car creak and bang inside??
CheeRS for the info kids

If you are fitting a roll cage properly to MSA regs you have to weld 6 metal plates to the contact points on the floor inside the car, and bolt it to them, This stops the cage punching a hole in the floor in the event of a roll, I have seen so many cars with these plates inside the wheel arches and under the floor which will do nothing in the event of a roll,
The same can be said for harness eye bolts, On Petter Solbergs recent crash the on board "Black box" recorded 23G which goes to show the pressures exerted in a roll.
To do a cage properly will take a weekend, I fitted mine, theen welded in the plates, then removed it to get it powdercoated(Which only cost £50), then refitted it and it looked good, and passed the MSA logbook test with no probs at all,
Good luck with it dude,
Andy

I paid just under £400 for my Safety Devices 6 point cage (took about 5 weeks to deliver) and it is the tits. I haven't fitted it yet though..... the cheapest place to buy Saftey Devices is from Peter Lloyd Rallying ( they knock the VAT of the prices).
I also have a Les hicks Rear 2.5inch rear cage for sale (out of Rudeys Imperical Blue car) if your after something shiney

Mcpikie
Chad has one for sale- PM retard boy, its the one out of my old car. It is in excellent condition and powder coated silver.
Dunno how much he will want. It is a 6 point SD cage.
Fitting in my opinion is piss easy

McPikie, I got this 6 point OMP jobby off a guy that sold his track car for £100. It was a bit of a pain in the 'arris getting it to fit [cheers to Jooster again
], had to ratchet it tod bend it out to get the top door bars to fit. In all honesty it has made the car ALOT better round the bends
I don't want andyescos to get on his high horse [I don't plan on racing it off the roads
] but I didn't bother welding it in, needed a plate for the centre mounts, but just bolted it in. I took it to a local guy I know that builds touring cars and he checked it over for me so I know its sound

That lagging is "Plumber spares Motorsport" mate
I had it in the back of the car for a bit in case I kept bashing my huge swede in particular places of the cage, but I bash my head fookin everywhere anyway so I've binned it
I got a major downside about the cage though mate, specially if you're a biggish bloke....
I was making some rear doors cards yesterday, stealth style, like a ninja, whilst I was crouching in the back, the fooking ford boot struts gave way and the rear window twatted me on the head and the boot shut....
After a quick rub I realised I couldn't get out the fookin car, thankfully I had me moby with me and had to ring my dad up to come and get me out.
Oh the shame
Did you send the fun valve off to me mate?

No worries mate, did you get a decent quote on a cage? Safety Devices are apparently the best ones for "proper" use and are about £350 new
This is our local stockist of them, www.cruzecontrol.co.uk ring them up and ask for Tim, he's in his 50's but not quite dead yet. He's the treasurer or something of the local motoring club and been rallying/racing cars for years and really knows his stuff.
