Default Uprated Actuator EsCos T25

I was wondering what type of uprated actuator I can buy for my T25 EsCos???

And what type is the original black actuator?

Is it possible (for example) to fit an -31 actuator??

Car spec's:

- Group N gasket
- Magnex exhaust (without Cat)
- K&N panel filter
- Forge DV
- Superchip (on standard turbo pressure because I don't have an uprated fuelpump and pressure valve atm )

Thanks

the small turbo escos has a T28

the black one is mostlikely the standard item....part no 400810-0410

you can fit a -31

For small turbos, I thought it was a -34. That's what I had fitted on mine by TurboSystems, before the big turbo conversion was done.

right,...and....

the question was, "Is it possible (for example) to fit an -31 actuator??"

and i replied yes....

in the same way that a -34 can be fitted,....

btw redkop,...was it a large amount of cash you handed over for the conversion??? just out of curiosity

Nope not really for the BT conversion itself, but I did have a load more extras and even then I don't think the price was too bad

depends....

if its standard turbo then -31 will be good to hold stronger boost due to spring...

but if its stage 1 spec or higher, then -34

If you fit a -31 to a Std T28 EEC Escos it will hit teh overboost limit every time you accelerate. its ok for chipped ones.

If you fit a 34 it will do the same, even if chipped as its far too strong. You may find you have to disable the boost solenoid even when chipped. Not the way to do it really, but some chips actually utilise this as a "Feature" lol.

The -31 and -34 are not officially available in T28 or 34 size, and as far as i am aware, i am the only person in teh world who supplies them in teh correct cannister and shaft format as i used to work at teh place that makes them for garrett and have them made specially for me.

Uprated actuators are not all the same. I have never seen a non garrett actuator fitted with a genuine garrett -31 or -34 spring. Ever. They normally come with an 8 or 14 instead, even when they call it a -X

Hope this helps.

very interesting stu...

but think turbo technics may think differently...

i understand the reasons why you put what you did, and you probably have a better knowledge than tt about how useable the actuators are on st escos

however,...
whenever i have enquired regarding customers vehicles, they have said differently..

You will find they remove the very long turnbuckle (Designed and fitted due to a harminoc resonace clash between teh 2 wheels n these turbos)and fit a shorter one to enable them to use a -31 or 34 (2wd and RST fitment).

The simple fact of teh matter is this, Garrett have only ever actually produced one -31 and -34. Given that it IS teh part number, that is of course not surprising, as if they did a different one it would likely have a DIFFERENT part number.

Unless of course your talking about boost pressures and not fitment?

stu, my car has the usual stg 1 superchip fitted and is using a different actuator from standard, (well it's not black coloured like standard ones), the amal valve is electronicley disconnected and if connected causes it to hit the boost limit exactly as you describe, so what actuator could be fitted to mine?
difficult I know without seeing it lol
also I have a GG "305" capsule in my stash of parts whats involved in fitting this? A uprated fuel pump(don't know if it is already) and regulator or is the bin a good option? lol

thnx Stu

So if I understand it correct, you can't fit a -31 actuator from (for example) a Saff 4x4 cos??

I have one at home from Garret (used it for 4 weeks, since then it's never been used )

What is the price for a -31 if I buy one from you ??

What turbo boost do you have??

And can you disconnect the amal valve without any problems??

youth the original superchips conversion used an 18 psi actuator with the lectron valve disconected

It is important to use the actuator that the chip programmer mapped for

Small turbo Escort uses a lectron valve rather than an amal valve
