As above need a water temp gauge for my efi frst engine... I want an Autometer Pro Comp one to match the rest of mine but not sure what will be easier to plumb in, either electrical or mechanical. Where would I have to plumb either? Not too fussed if its not accurate to the nearest .1 of a degree, i just want an indication if its going to overheat on me or not!!!
So which one should i go for??
Cheers

i have never seen a mechanical water temp gauge (oil pressure maybe ?)
most just involve cutting 2 inches out of one of the coolant hoses and installing an alloy tube with a threaded hole to accept the water temperature sender

hmmm, not keen on doing that!! Where would the electrical connection be for the water temp? Oil Temp I presume will be a sump plug replacement / mechanical?

you dont really get mechanical temp gauges, as they wont give an accurate representation of engine temperature.
you could in theory mount the temp sensor anywhere within the cooling system
