Ok, nothing major; just a 2 layer image so I could tweak the sky and land seperately.

USed the dodge tool to bring out some detail in the jetty to the left and amongst the trees, put some burn into the sky to give it some nice dramatic feel

After

Before

As said, nothing major just a minor tweak to see what further potential the image had [/img]

WOW! stunning read. I really think i need to my upgrade my camera and this thread has convinced me to do so and for the EOS Range. Last time i owned a EOS was back when it was 35mm. I owned at the time a EOS1000FN which was a goosd camera but times move on.

Its really interesting to read about panning on here, as thats really difficult to do it think. I always seem to end up with the front or the back chopped off The last time I did any panning was at Donnington on 29th December 2006. A few pics that can be seen below and with some devastating results

However on the upside i have had some very good ones, BUt it seems that for every 10 i take 1 turns out good, or what i deem to be good

time to get buying me thinks...

I would say its spot metering etc..

Normally:

[.] = Spot

[] = center weighted

[()] = partial

[(.)] = evaluative.

At least, it is on canons...

Dan,
That looks far better.... high time i learnt to use this CS2 isnt it? Great, another project i have no time for.

Glad you like Stu, just a few things I've picked up along the way that help get that extra little bit from each picture where possible

Snoopy: I have a Nikon D50, I think Stu is right, I'd say its the metering for the camera, if it's any consolation mines set to 'Matrix'

One more I found from the weekend; it's what rainy bank holidays are for

Nikon D50, Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF, RAW

been playing with Adobe Lightroom too, very nice bit of software.

Good for cropping, resizing, adding contrast and keeping track of pics.

loving the pic of the frog / toad, pure quality

Im getting a lil more used to my camera now, loving playing with it.
One thing I would like to get though is a wide angle lens!

If anyone can give me some links or ideas of which one to get it would be most appreciated I've got the canon 400D body

Went to a track day on Saturday & took a few pics with my new 300mm lens Its finally nice to be so far away, but yet be able to get close, which is what I was always trying to do before rather then the item I'm photographing looking like a dot in the picture

These are the better shots that came out. I was on a very fast straight into a bend, so had to be very quick on the click to capture the picture, or actually to at least get the whole car in the show rather then the front or the back

Again on this shot I'm still in the sports mode, hence how I got the rear wheel in the air

Couple of static shots whilst I wait for home time

One thing I do find myself doing now more with this camera rather then a normal smaller digital camera is asking people to ove away from things as I can see their reflections in whatever I'm trying to photograph

Its great fun though & I enjoy it

Thanks

I got a Sigma 10-20mm lense, for my EOS350, and I'm really pleased with it, keep on trying to find reasons to use it

http://www.jessops.com/Store/s20268/0/Lenses/Sigma/10-20mm-f-and-4-56-EX-DC-HSM-(Canon-AF)/details.aspx?&IsSearch=y&pageindex=3&CatId=143&com p=y

I took these 2 with it, the full size pics are excellent.

Do you recommend the lens? I have got a Nikon D80 with 18-135mm the other week. Very pleased with it. Just not had much time to use it yet.Your pictures look good

Whats the name of the boat?

I can afford a Nikon one, but my soul defies me spending that much money on this so i'll probably look at the Sigma at around 600 quid.. Although i've also been peeping the Sigma 100-300 F4 which seems nice..

I would recommend it, produces very sharp pics at either end of the range.

I'll have a look on the pics tonight for the boat name.

Stu,
Just thought you might want to play with bracketing too if your camera supports it It automatically takes a series of pictures across a range of exposures around the one you have selected
