i know derek from ACE performance, had some dealings with him and he is the biggest fookin knob you will meet. he did build the 3 door as it started off as an xr4. it is a crock of shit. he reckons he mapped it himself, but his rolling road is only rated to 400bhp, he told me on a previous visit. he bought the escort exactly as it is now, he's never layed a finger on it. prob for the best! pretty sure i read somewhere the escos was 480bhp. he is just so unbelievably full of shit. he rolling roaded my 16v astra gte with a full magnex and he set the pulleys on my kent cams, 190bhp anyone! bullshit!!!!!!


after meeting our derek today id have to agree with tony totally and say youd be very very hard pushed to find a bigger knob-end than derek.mate asked him if he built it then he started harping on how he WAS an aston martin technician and a host of other bull shit and that the cars 802hp and he couldnt get a gear the last time he was at crail racing andy gallacher.apparently he was changing with 2hands.and he was nearly catching andy with every run."not from the passenger seat where i could see you when in with andy"and apparently he ran an 11.1 that day but saw him twice 2day with the 6speed sequentioul and he ran a 14.4 and worse the next time.so basically yes hes a total knob.

unfortunately i learned the hard (and expensive) way after he was recommended by someone else but as there isnt many places that will tackle a cosworth conversion into an old bmw 'estate' over this side of the border these days and i also had problems with the guy who did my other cosworth conversion into my toyota celica (derek palmer @ pro-motorsport in lesmahagow) unfortunately it cost me another Ł1000+ to have other people put right ace performances shoddy (and dangerous)work

 

 

the rolling road he has was bought on the side from a garage that had ceased trading. he told me he and his mates had stripped it out at night and refitted it in his garage but he's had no training on how to work it and didnt seem to sure when he rolling roaded my previous cosworth celica .he also does powder coating of alloy wheels and the quality of the finishing on them can also best be described as unusual as anyone that has seen his multi coloured cosworth rocker cover in his black 3 door will testify to

i think my cars been to him in previous owner ship and the old engine was shagged. ive seen him about and from what ive heard hes a major bell end wouldnt trust him with a push bike
