STARTERMOTOR TROUBLE!!!
I think the startermotor of my van just packed up....
When you try to start the dashlights fade, there's a click from the relais and thats it...I suspected that the pendix might be jammed so took the starter off but when I connect it to + and - to see if it's free nowt happens...
Can anybody tell me if I´m right to assume if I connect it up to a battery it should work...

As above, earth the body of the starter, and put a hefty live cable to the + and a live to the solenoid. It should throw pretty violently - you'll have a job to hold it in your hand when it spins.

LOL
No I measured the battery, it's fine at 12,4 volts.
It heats up the earth cable when you try to start it so I must be the starter really...
I did it the way you said and the pendix shoots out but doesn't spin......
Never seen that before...

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Replace The Battery to chassis & Battery to starter cable. And that will cure your problem!
I had the same problem,
What I did to diagnose the problem was to put a jump lead from battery to starter and another jump lead from battery to chassis, basically where the original wires go... Then it should start!
Hope that makes sense

Thanx mate, you mean I have a bad earth connection....but that's not it!
read above: I've earthed the body of the starter via jumplead to negative terminal of battery, connected a + to both the solenoid and starter and when I do that the pendix shoots out but does not turn, the jumplead starts to heat up though!
