VAG dump valve Q
I've got my A4 1.8T and am about to dril the airbox to get a bit more airflow to the filter (Until I get the induction kit) and while I had it in bits I was thinking about removing the factory plastic dump valve/noise surpression device.
1. Can I remove it without causing anything damage?
2. Where the Hell is it?
3. Should I stick my old Bailey DV on as it will wind the missus up a treat as like me she is a hardened member of the Dumpvalve Protest Group.

Just reverse it. They quite often leak off boost anyway. You may also get a bit of chirping going on (this happens on the evo when you reverse it as it dumps off less air and you get a bit of compressor stall)

It looks like this (same looking as cossie)

If it's never been removed it should have clips that you can't re-use around the associated pipework. You may need some jubilee clips to replace them with.
Don't quote me on the noise issue though, I know it works on an evo but you may well have too much sound deadening with the std inlet pipework and airbox to hear it (if it does work) But then when you get an induction kit it may well become present.

pretty sure you need to remove the plastic engine cover and you should find it at the back RHS, pipe coming off the charge pipe from turbo to dv and pipe going to inlet pipe.
Been a while since I've seen one but pretty sure that's where it is. Was there on a3 1.8t and seat cupra I've fidled with
Either way, it's pretty simple to locate wherever it may be, just locate pipe from turbo that'd have charge air in and trace it until you find smalle hose with dv in.

don't stick anything other than a re circ dump valve on there as they don't like it but if you want to find it, it should be just behind the inlet
Best mod is to get hold of a Forge recirc vlave, you get different strength springs to fit
JR, induction kits are fie as long as they aren't oiled ones, they tend to kill the MAF sensor very quickly.
If you fit an induction kit get the one that relocates the filter the the front bumper area, the pipe echo makes a nice noise as well as being functional by getting nice cold air in

Explains why my MAF always needs cleaning out then on the estate as I put a K&N panel on it. Oh well will be putting a standard filter on it for when it's sold
After all the messing abouty today with Mothers Day I didn't get a chance to do much so I'll hold off on any tinkering until I sort a proper recirc valve out

Get a Forge 007p dump valve and see if Carbonio do an intake for the car. Sounds pretty good.
Or the new option is the forge Split-R dump valve which is a hybrid and both recirs and dumps or so forge claim....

they sort of chatter when you get the carbonio or similar sort of pipe on there, if you don't want to pay the £200 odd for the carbonio there's a few pipe and filter combos that go for around £30 on ebay, just bin the cheap and nasty filter and get a decent one, job done for about half the price

They do a bit.
Never heard of anyone blanking off the dv though. I know when the standard dv failed on mine its would chatter a bit
