Default Central locking help needed

Right, the XR3i didn't have a motor in the boot for central locking when I bought it. So, I got one, with the wiring, from a friend yesterday. Came to fit it today, screws it in place, runs the wire down the rear quarter, up the sill, got told to splice into the passenger side wiring............................ however.

The passenger side looks like an aftermarket kit. Only a red and black wire, I have 3 wires on the ford loom from the boot.

WTF do I do from here???? Please help.

No point spending loads on what I've already got tho is there.

I just need to know what wires go where. Anyone got an ERST/3i wiring guide online??

i dont know, but i remember the central locking wiring to be a right pain... it switches between 2 feeds for lock/unlock and doesnt pulse like aftermarket ones do...

wiring diagrams will be in the back of haynes manual

well from what i remember of the standard central locking (this is me trying to remember something i did over 2 years ago mind!)

4 wires...

1 constant live
1 constant earth
1 live when locked, earth when unlocked
1 earthed when locked, live when unlocked

dunno if that helps you at all

most aftermark systems pulse a wire to lock/unlock and dont keep it live/earth like the standard setup... so you may struggle to get it workin
