Default Please help diagnose problem with my saff...........

Right i have got a freshly built engine in my saff and is just run in but when i was out the other day it started smoking like mad and was ambarrassing when pulling away from traffic lights or touching the throttle when there was a car behind cause the smoke was unreal....I thought the turbo had packed in so i went down the garage tonight to take the turbo off and noticed there is no oil at all in the pipe's not even any oil vapour so i took the plugs out and all 4 are black but have no carbon deposits at all which also rule out burning oil so i built it back up and fired the car up and straight away it fill the garage up with somke but looking at it closer it looks more blake than blue so now im thinking it is over fueling......is there anything apart from the water temp sensor failing that can also cause the engine to overfuel as it is not that old and if it is that would it cause this much smoke????????

car is running grays, low comp, stage 3 turbo technics turbo,

Coolant sensor/Coolant sensor wiring fault most likely if it runs and drives ok.
If the sensor is more than 3 years old I would change it anyway.

Yes,

Turn off ignition, unplug ecu then test the resistance of the sensor
across ecu loom plug pins 11 and 29.

Set the meter to a range that can measure at least 10K ohms (10000)

With the ecu connector holes towards you and the side with more pins at the top....

Pin 11 is the 11th pin from the left on the top larger row.
Pin 30 is the 6th pin from the right on the bottom smaller row.

Pins go 1 to 18 along the top left to right.
Pins 19 to 35 go along the bottom smaller row left to right.

Also, check the charge air temperate sensor resistance the same way using
pins 11 and 31.
Some chips are known to overfuel massively on charge air temp sensor failure.

Both these sensors are electrically identical.

Generally, when these sensors fail, they go open circuit.

You should see resistances of 500 to 5000 ohms depending on temperature.

If you find a problem, check the wires near the sensors themselves are
in good shape as oil, heat, vibration can wear the wiring out and give a
sensor fault when the sensor itself is ok .

Testing the map sensor is much harder especially as teh car runs ok - ish.

When you get the meter and are next to the car, if you have any problems
give me a call on 07974030591 and I will try and talk you through it

Sorry, was in the shower

As the car runs reasonably well, subtle map sensor problems are very
hard to diagnose without expertise right in front of it.

As for how bad it smokes, it really depends on the chip !

Check the easy things first (and the most common problems).

If after all that, try and borrow a sensor from someone else to see if it
cures it, you dont want to buy one only to find out it isnt the problem.

However, after all this it could be a fuel pressure regulator problem !
Check the electrical things first as they will be the most likely issues.
