Hopefully there's someone on here who can help, so here goes....

My mate's sister has a 1996 1.8 Vectra that is refusing to run, it'll turn over and start, but shuts down straight away - very, very annoying! I think it's electrical, as opposed to mechanical; but does anyone know what could be causing the problem?

Does the engine management light come on?

 

Now you say that, It does keep flashing; someone has suggested the chip in the key may have burned out?

 

Idle control valve...sticks the same as Ford ones do...

Or it's a split intake hose...My mates did the same - I touched the hose and it fell apart. Gaffer tape fixed the split hose, and it runs better now too
