Been having a play with my Nokia N95 and Nokia Sports tracker (free)http://research.nokia.com/research/p...SportsTracker/
When it's in the full version of google earth you can pan down and the height of the line from the ground is your speed

Obviously not as detailed, but it does have a lap facility and data log everything.
I have been playing around with the raw data so the maximum speed shown is obviously incorrect.. and it wasn;t me driving

original, it depends on the port that the GPS uses. i had problems getting it to run on an SPV think its down to the devei rather than the software
