Default engine building techniques..

A friend of mine is rebuilding his 3.6 porker turbo(air cooled) engine as has a few questions..

He is fitting ARP rods bolts and wants to know weather to follow ARP fittment instructions or Porsche's own?

the ARP instructions say to torque them down by 35 pounds then do the same again, but porsche says the must be tightned to achive a 12 thou stretch.

what would you guys do?

Use the ARP instructions obviously, they will be a totally different material to Porsche ones so the Porsche informant is completely irrelevant....

yeah you have to take a measurement of the bolts length before fitment, then when you come to reuse them again in the future you remeasure the bolts and check to see if its within the spec, if it it you can reuse them safely, if not bin them and buy some more.

go with arp settings euan, arp bolts do not stretch that is why they do not get torqued down as much, watch because i dont think it will be 35 then another 35 m8,usually its 35 say for instance it will ask u to slacken them and then retightened back to 35,and uze plenty of the arp lube m8.
