Steve....i wouldnt even try to drive round Donny....would get lapped for sure

Im basing my losses on a certain moonstone saf that made 535 at harveys dyno then made 395 at AVA ATW...a loss of 140 bhp.

mines makes 486 so add 140 and that makes 626 on the dyno

All speculation of course

I'm sure Mike's not fussed, lower horsepower figure AND a good top speed result is always more impressive.

i can only really quote my figs at AVA as thats where the car is tested.

Im not comparing mine AGAINST Mikes but WITH it.

My top speed kinda backs up my power fig.

Next top speed run will have probs close to 50 bhp more so hope to push it up a wee bit

Dyno fig dont really mean that much IMO due the fact that the engine is sometimes very unrestricted compered to the in-car installation, specially in a 4x4.

How you get 650 horse when a GT30 compressor is only good for about 50lb/min airflow?

sorry lads i do not wish to reveal all spec at the moment all i will say is its a 2.0l gt30 turbo with .82 ex, high compression, motec management, special one off cams, 10 studded by julian godfrey, the engine builder is Norris Designs the engine was built for the sole purpose of midrange torque hence gt30, no expense has been spared on this engine if wanted just power could have bolted a gt40 turbo on and had 750bhp+ top end with loads of lag ,

will leave the top speed runs to u straightliners,

i also had 12 months guarantee who gets that just goes to show how confident simon norris is in his work

How does a GT30 make over 650bhp?

don't get me wrong, I am going down to a GT30 on the Sierra but I thought max was about 580bhp?

anyway but you can't wait to get it in the car mate. Look forward to seeing it fly around a track

Like I asked before, could it be GT3082R altough it is gt30 with gt40 compressor.

edit: I'm slow typing...

GT30 - this states the size of the exhaust wheel - NOTHING else

So you can't say a gt30 will flow x amount of air - as you don't know the compressor wheel size.

..i was reply to porkie on how it can get 650bhp...higher octane ='s more ignition that ='s more bhp and hi comp always produces higher figures on race fuel than lo comp.

Gareths point is that a turbo can only flow so much air - reagrdless of fuel and ignition advance and compression - you still need a certain amount of air to make a figure.

..yes but both figures are 2.3bar how did it manage another 60bhp?...by upping the advance due to race fuel?...not air flow?

a race engine for a race car simple as

if it was lower than standard comp it would be low comp!
this must be a fashionable engine though!

Not really, what denotes a "low comp build". How low is low? Theres a massive range of what the engine in question could be in terms of comp. i'm very interested to know what...or even just a ball park figure. To me hign would be over 8.5 and low is sub 7.5, everything inbetween is....normal

In my book....

Low c/r = less than std c/r
Std c/r = std c/r
High c/r = more than std c/r

...of course Steve may have a different book to me and may mean high c/r for the power level.... either way he says he doesn't wish to say, which is his perogative.

anything where you "lower"the compression ratio is low comp, obviously!!you cant drop the cr from 8:1 to 7.8:1 and say its high comp as you lowered it!
