just got a new digital camera any tips on getting good pics?

wondered if anyone could give me any pointers, im really rubbish at taking pics. are there any tips on improving them? ie position of sun.understanding exposure many thanks

Sun behind you is best for normal shots. obviously you can use the sun to alter the effects, create shadows etc depending on what you want to do. Best thing to do is practice. Take loads of pictures and note down the settings you use etc. Take loads of pictures of the same thing and then change things slightly.
