usually FWD is front wheel drive, i thought 4wd fords had equal length shafts straight out of the box.
equal length drive shafts help to reduce torque steer allegedly

The system can work very well, my mate had a Calibra turbo lump in a Vectra with equal lengh shafts and that had good traction and little torque steer

Indeed, i believe it was chrysler who first thought and used the idea.
1.3/1.6 mk1 fiestas had it as did mk2 1.3&1.4 i think!
Not sure if it will cure torque steer or not though? anyone who's driven a high spec mk1 xr2 in the wet will tell you theres plenty of torque steer!

The job would basically consist of a custom offside 2 piece shaft but when I looked into them it was from a Zetec bottom end point of view as they have the rear mount bracket for the two piece shaft. Not sure what you would do about CVH as I've no idea whether the CVH bottom ends had the same brackets
I recon that prob shaft company in luton could make you one if you had the measurements

you would need the tyres to grip for it to be torque steering

Dean at Shepherds converted his XR2 to run equal length driveshafts with the centre bearing design as per the later Fiesta's and for sure the Fiesta ST.
Give him a ring as I know for a fact it was constructed from existing O/E Ford parts that for relatively little cost can be converted to most CVH / ZVH / Zetec / BC / IB5 combo's AFAIK.

just finished putting mtx7 box in my motor,i have used 3 piece driveshaft setup,it is easier to do when you have zetec block as the mounting point for the bracket to hold shaft on is already there,it does need modified though,as does everything else, nothing is a straight bolt on when doin this conversion, just hope its worth it!!!
but both my outer shafts are exactly the same size, therefore keeping torquesteer to a minimum.

the first fiesta i turbo'd was a 1.4s.
But i have done back to back tests with equal and std drive shafts, and to be honest their wasn't much difference on my 190 bhp mk2.

it runs a std 5 speed bc box, the only reason i can think of, is the 1.4s was brought out in 1987/8, and was a newer design compared to the xr2.
