Default Toothed pulleys- Like cam pulleys etc

What else, barring cam and some supercharger pulleys, are toothed belts used on?

I need 2 pulleys, one about 3 times the size of another, ie a 3:1 ratio if ran off a single belt, but cant think where i can find 2 of such different sizes, esp as want them no bigger than cam pulleys at best really.

Any ideas? Id guess thatd cost a lot to get custom made, wouldnt it?

Cool

Are there any particualr type of gears that are intended for belt drives, or do i just need to measure some teeth on a normal belt/pulley and work it out from there?

Gareth- Im building a pedal powered self-fucking machine No not really Just trying to figure something out at mo, not actually planning anything.

Honest!

Anyhow, about the tooth shape? Any ideas?

Id like to just pick the right ones from a list rather than do stuff i cant do, like sums

Depending on what you are driving you can use a smooth pulley and stick it on the back of the belt also

It will slip without doubt at the top end.
And the tensioners etc to even make it nearly as grippy are a nightmare.
V-belts are ok if running low boost, but the amount chargers need to work at high boost is a different story.

Hence the question.

All testing ive seen shows belts of an equal thickness will be a lot better off at gripping if they toothed.

Hence why people with poly-v supercharger belts change to toothed.

Pace have a section on their site about custom belt pulleys Their site seems to be down now but if I remember correctly I think is just says to ring them

Titan probably do the same.

Demon tweaks motorsport also has a small section on pulleys.

I think they are all dry sump / cam / water type pulleys though and I guess any of these companies will take your pants down for you though ...

Have you tried some of the drag racing suppliers / shops in the states ?

Why not just supercharger pulleys.

http://www.superchargersonline.com/p...ber=V2A032-034

or big Gay pulleys;

Whats the difference between normal heavy duty timing belts and pulleys and "reduced backlash" ones?

Reduced backlash ones less likely to slip, or?

Why tho?

I notice the reduced backlash ones have flanged sides so the belt cant slip off the sides off the pulleys, thatd be handy too.

so have the heavy duty pulleys,

because the standard belt as less tooth angle, it is less lightly to "ride" out of a tooth

oh yeah, what a dumbass, says they have when specified, but its only the HUGE ones that havent

im still confused about it all tho, i thought a shallower angle would mean more slip

but you know about this shit, i dont

being honest ive never heard the term "reduced backlash timing belts"

but backlash is the measured "slack" from a change in direction,, so im guess a bachlash belt fits better, but this doesnt matter to you

S13 is getting twincharged, thats been the plan for ages, just never did it till now where i got a big turbo and top mount manifold for clearance.

will need an elecy PAS pump too, but aside from that the main hard stuff is getting someone to make the mounts, but should go where the aircon goes if you have it, and i have a spare block they can use to mock it up on.

want to on the 360 too, but want to test it on the SX first

should be, know someone in oz who has done it and given me mega detailed info on how, what works and what dont, lots of detail, so im confident in it working well.

not going for big power, car will be 300-330bhp on stock internals, but its how it drives.

should sound good too!

no more chatter tho

unless i wanted stupidly high ACTs it gonna have to be dumpvalve city too, oh well

well, the way im doing it it WILL be mentally high ACTs without any intercooling effect, but recirc dumpers will make it worse etc.

dont think so, ill ask.

he jus likes to expererment, went from turbo, to s/c, to VNT turbo, to s/c again, to twincharged, lol.

said difference is like night and day if you want throttle response, and was gutted with the VNT turbos, and a right pain to get working mint on an aftermarket setup.

Quick Reply: Toothed pulleys- Like cam pulleys etc
