Basically yes.

The reality is he didn't make it there in the first place, despite posting on friday that he was going, and despite the various PMs we exchanged.

He has my tel no, and didn't even make the 2 minute effort of texting to say he wasn't going to be able to give us the run we were relying on.

270 mile return trip cost us Ł85, 7 hours and two lifts from REAL friends.

Fair play he offered the lift as a favour, including delivering us to the door, but when he then doesn't show and doesn't even contact us he just lives up to the reputation we all know and have read about on here time and time again.

I await some pathetic excuse to make me look bad "My dog died again" etc etc.

I trusted you Simon, and you shit on us big time.

For the record, AJ gave us a lift 110 miles of the journey and at least 1 hour out of his way to drop us at Birmingham New St Station, and Robin (a local friend) went on a 50 mile, 1 hour journey in shitty weather to take us home from the station at Taunton.

Unbelievable!

Not the fact that he didn't turn up, but just the lack of common courtesy to make a phonecall to let you know.

Staggering how this guy has any friends in the world.

Nice one AJ.
Sounds bang out of order of SECS but no point anyone making any judgements about him without hearing his side of the story, but seems impossible he couldnt get to either the net or a payphone or a mobile phone or a borrowed phone etc to let you know

Phil/Sib do you know what date you are going back to fetch the car yet?

Next Sat, as soon as Stu opens up (getting dropped off at the M6 / M55 junction at 4am )

All going to plan that is, really can't wait

As said above, I'm sure there'll be a reason...
Two minutes is all it would have taken to let us know.
If it wasn't a Sunday (car hire places closed) and we weren't 270 miles from home it wouldn't have been a problem. Public transport from Blackpool to Yeovil would have cost well over Ł75 each I reckon too, plus taken 10 hours plus.

Put a dampner on a great weekend, until AJ offered up a lift back

What a let down! No excuse really. I kinda know what it feels like.. On one of the first times in the UK Taryn and I were left to find our way back from Central London (touristy area) to North London where we were staying. Here in NYC the tube is open 24hrs didn't know they closed at midnight over your end. Long story short, couple of bus rides later, asking how to get places and which bus to take this "Friend" picked us up at his local to him tube station....4 hours later Thank F'kn God we were leaving the next day. Almost never came back because of that!

Oh, did I mention the car ride would have only been about 20 mins round trip LOL

Good of you to offer Chippers

I'm hoping my friends whom I'm going to Scotland with next Sat will drop me off on the way up through. Only problem is they are doing the 400 odd mile run overnight, so they're dropping me off as they go past Blackpool - which will be something like 4 or 5 o'clock AM!

Might be able to meet Stu for a couple of hours in the Syndicate before I take the car on

Or more realistically will be kipping outside his unit waiting for opening up time (hope the Burger van gets in early on Saturday!)

Thanks for the offer though

Si

Not a good intro to UK life At least you know who your friends are, and from posts like this can see who you can rely on

Have met loads of people off here over the years at tracks / shows and meets, and have been helped by so many genuine people, sometimes though when things go wrong it can be a right pain in the butt! Especially when you're miles (or 1000s of miles in your case!) from home.
