sorry guys, that was dumb of me, its a 93 escort cosworth, its running 8x greens and T4 at the moment, the gearbox we put in it has upgraded internals, dont ask me what , i havent a clue , we're going with a bigger turbo and nitrous so the gearbox would be an obvious weak point, i m coming to uk next week with it so need to get box sorted, again apologies and any help would be met with a nights drinking

hi D-sport,
the only thing i know about this box is it is straight cut, 6 speed, very expensive and very noisy.
i know kevin sharp has one in his 600bhp escos and the turbinator has one.
there both members of passion ford.
its not much help but thats i only know
cheers

kev did buy a r+d box but sold it on before even running it after sean smashed his to pieces for the 2nd time, he bought a ffd like gareth lloyd and scotty have which remains unbroken
sean said r+d were useless in terms of customer service and the product itself. seans box smashed 6th gear to bits which took all the box with it, and he said he didnt even hit 6th gear on track

i did have an R&D 6 speed but like matt says i sold it on before really running it as a 7 speed ffd box came up
d sport if you are using your car as a regular road car i would advise against an ffd box, but if its mostly trackdays and the like its superb i have had no probs with mine other than a replacement dog ring (which was my fault for duffing a downshift

pgt....i did over 1000 road miles with mine to run in the new engine...i,m not saying they cant be used on the road but if you are in traffic or doing a lot of stop start driving they are not very nice to drive IMO plus its a waste of a proper motorsport box being used in a shopping trolley!

i think you will pay around 9k + vat for a fresh one with a new gearset plus you need props, hydraulic clutch conversion, dry sump tank, etc etc
The R&D 6 speed box is about 5k +vat

R+D stands for Roger the Dodger (the company logo lookes like "RTD").
I also had an R+D gearbox, a 5 speed syncro based gearkit for the MT75, cost Ł3k, took them 2.5 months to build it when he told me it would be done in 2 weeks (siad all the bits were in stock), biggest pile of shite i have ever had the misfortune of using, it went back to them twice in the space of 6 months as it was binding (car would lunge forward when starting the car in neutral!), and crunched like hell on gearchanges, and the customer service is just non-exstant, you can't even get to talk to him 99% of the time (hence the nickname). I would NEVER use R+D for ANYTHING, EVER!

Wim, Roger the dodger owns and runs R&D. He is not well thought of or liked by a few people.... although to be fair the 6 speed boc took Martins 600bhp and Bruce had no real problems either. and for the money, its pretty good. Kevs box and the Skyline conversion that Sean and Wes have is the NUTS though. Fixit boxes are also SILLY stong apparently, Ranj and Mike are going to use these.
