I'm eyeing up a few 172 Cups, they seem good value and lots around, fairly new with decent low mileage on them. Would need to be a daily driver aswell so no suggestions of a stripped out 205 Mi-16 with twin 45's please
can only think of an Integra type-R as an alternative, do peugeot do anything worth considering? I have a 106 at present and its great fun

Are'nt they weekend sort of cars though? I dont do mega miles (about 2-250 a week) if they are upto these sorts of miles I might consider one, only other problem is cost, they seem to be £6k+ for a good one with decent miles and they are all getting on for 10 years old or more!! alot of money for an old Honda, are they THAT much better than say a clio?

I know it's not all about the speed, like an E30 M3, but just thought they'd be a fair bit quicker than something like a Z3 or suchlike.
I guess they're quicker on twisty tracks?

Need to try both and see which I prefer, the main thing thats swinging it for the clio is the age and low mileage, not bothered about losing too much money, thats what cars are for
![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
What are both like for reliability? I know Honda reckon they've never had a VTEC fail or whatever they claim, but what about basic day to day stuff? is either better than the other?

Toyotas are supposed to be quite reliable aren't they? A TRD Sport M? Like
this one Clicky for ad Much the same as the ITR but 6-speed box and 200bhp. LSD, lightened, stiffened shell, bucket seat interior, fantastic pin-sharp handling - more extreme version of the Celica 190 by Toyota Motorsport

if you can streth the budget a little a civic type r may be an option, also ultra reliable.
the ITR's are pretty cool though, double wishbone suspension
, and quicker than a standard escos (if one exists
) to 60mph
considering one myself

DC2 for me, i owned one for 18months and was great fun. I used it for the drive back home at weekends 200miles each way and never had a problem with it.
I havn't got what you call alot of mechanical sympathy, nothing broke in that time other than me smashing a standard clutch but then mine was running 209.4bhp. Only other thing i had to change was the rear wheel bearings but after 100k miles cant complain about that. Engine was sweet as a nut.
Handling is superb and i put some very expensive cars to shame around track with one.
As Mike said they hold there value well compared to the clio's.

Na flat ot in 4th hit the limiter then hit 3rd instead of 5th![Wall](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/wall.gif)
slightly bent a few valves and that was it no terminal damage to block pistons head etc, so its going back together faster

I can scan you in the Best Handling Car days from "CAR" mag and "AUTOCAR" circa 97/98 if you like that featured the ITR.
The 106 GTi came very close to the ITR as well round Combe ( Car mag test )

Shaun at work has just sold his DC2 and now has a Clio 172 and MUCH prefers how the Clio drives.
Cant be any less reliable or more expensive to run either
I used to work at Honda and got to drive DC2s every day, and im not a huge fan on the road, tho on the ragged edge on the track im sure they lovely, as a road going track car, i like the Clio 172.

I find the clio terribly uncomfortable. Minging driving position and horrible pedals
Totally spoils what looks a fab car ( quality aside ) if only i could fit comfortably in it

Thanks for the input peeps, loads more than I expected
No ta, to thirsty, would love one if I worked local and wanted a fast road/track car, but no good for what I want.
tough decision, will keep saving and look out for a nice DC2 I think, will keep it fairly standard as well I reckon, decent set of brakes and tyres will do on something as good as that out the box.

I know you said no stripped 205 mi16 with twin 45s...
how about a non-stripped 205 mi16 on throttle bodies?
