I bought one for £1300 3 month ago, its £800 now, i'd wait till market settles down or get one full 1080 HD ready.

samsung are pretty good, microsoft always use them, go for the best resolution u can afford, to take advantage of hd dvd and blue ray, as posted above , you want a minium of 1080, try and get a set with at least 2 hdmi ports aswell, good luck.

Had a serious look into this recently, ended up getting a Hitachi PD9700 42 plasma from Richer Sounds.

Was up for £1100, got it for £925 including a 5 year warranty. Cut a long story short, they price matched John Lewis/Empire Direct.

This one: http://www.richersounds.com/showprod...=HITA-42PD9700

Do some homework, you'll save a fortune. Pioneers are regarded as the best, followed by Hitachi/Panasonic (plasmas that is).

Very pleased with mine, motorised stand is

cheers for the responses lads... certainly plenty of choice out there. My folks have the samsung one and I must say the picture quality is pretty good. I have been looking at the SONY KDL-40W2000U, has anyone got one? The pixel resolution is 1920x1080p and has 2 HDMI ports.... what do you think?
