Default welding issues

right im TRYING to weld the rear chasis rails on my s2 rst







how's the best way to go about this for the MOT

tryed plating it but theres too much rust and cant get ab earth to the floor

anyone done this before rely need help

thats too rotten to plate over, needs cutting out,and new metal welding in.probably easiest to buy a new chassis rail.

if you can buy a chassie leg buy one and cut the whole rusty part out and piece the new one in

i need a quick fix to or i'll lose my mot i have 7days left

just need a get me out 4 now gonna get 2 new rails with the spring mount on

that would do it,a lot easier than trying to plate over rust,and will not take as long to do

if you've never welded before, that is not the part to start on.

get it done by an experienced welder.

Work out how much you need to cut out remember when the rust stops you need to go about 2 inchs back from it so you get good metal then mark it out then do some cardboard templates of what you need ie right side,left side,bottem,then lay template on your steel a mark out then cut out if you have done a good template you should beable to weld it up in a u shape before going under the car which will save harder welding i presume you have a mig welder if you do not have the right tools mate as said take it to a local engineering firm

yes thats the part a was on about mate,welding that in will not take much longer than trying to put plates on over rust

sorted it now i wasn't gonna do it myself handy when 2 of ur matse are coded welders
