It was Wenny off here (mk3cosworth) that bought it from the salvage auctions a couple of years back to break, would be interesting to find out what happened to it if it was Stu's old car it was well fooked like

Thats a blast from teh past....
Was a lovely car once upon a time... These pics of teh car and engine were taken just before we left for Norfolk that week. The engine was brand new.

No idea if the car pictured in this topic is teh same car or not, but to cut a long story short, we were travelling back from SCA in Norfolk, on the M6 around junction 20, cruising past a silver BMW about 80mph when he just started to pull in on us and forced us onto the grass verge in teh central reservation....
![Mad](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/mad.gif)
He impacted the front nearside wing and as the front end came back onto the tarmac after bouncing off the reservation, the bank end went unstable as it was still on teh grass and we went into a tailslide that i sadly couldnt correct... we did around 3 spins across all three lanes of the M6 and ended up with the front of teh car going underneath the overider on the back of a large lorry going slower tghan we were spinning in lane 1... the overider peeled the bonnet away and destroyed anything in its path.. the turbo was sliced off like it was made of butter.![Sad](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
The overider came through my drivers door as we came to rest on teh hard shoulder and i had to unbuckle myself and lean over nicole to avoid it smashing my head in.![Sad](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
Nick who used to work for me was in the back. The loom and some fuel caught fire under the bonnet and for a short while in the heat of teh moment we thought we may burn to death.
The steering column had collapsed on my knee but thankfully i got out, and had an extinguisher in the car to put the small flames out with.
It was a harrowing experience at best.
The guy pleaded guilty to falling asleep at the wheel.
He was/is a doctor at Liverpool Hospital.
Some pics that still make me cringe today... The grey messy looking stuff in the bay is fire extinguisher foam.

Sadly, the shock of impact caused the BMW driver to swerve when he awoke, and he ended up hitting a motorway stantion sideways. He didnt get off lightly either...

The beemer driver was in turmoil, he was sure his girlfriend was in teh car. The fire and search service combed the fields for her. It was grim to watch...
Turned out he had dropped her home one junction earlier.
![god](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/dieu.gif)
So did anything get salvaged, how was the engine?
I just came and took teh HiFi and personal belongings out of it and left the rest.
I had physio on my knee and shoulder for over 2 years and my knee still gives out today. Damn thing.
![](https://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/stu@mdevelopments/carcrash/kneesmall.jpg)
That was teh morning we got hiome... it got worse over the week and spread to over twice that size. It sure hurt, but we were all thankfull we didnt die or worse...

Stu MSNd the pics to me shortly after the accident.
I was gobsmacked.
The moral of this is don't drive tired. Swap drivers or pull over and have 20 minutes kip. Coffee/Coke and a sarnie is a good idea too.
And yes I have nodded off on the motorway too (a long time ago) and it scared the living shit out of me.
