oil pressure gauge and sendor fitting??????????
Just bought an oil pressure gauge and comes with the sendor for the block also. On the diagram for the sendor it says that the body of the sendor must be earthed to the battery. Surely it would be earthed when I screw it in to the block??????
Also I have wired up gauge to see if it worked without being wired to sendor and it goes straight up to max. Is this because the sendor is not earthed??
Thanks fellas

Not sure about the second bit, but providing that your engine earth strapping is good, your are correct about the block. If the sensor has a separate earth connector, then you should be able to connect this to any part of the block in the usual way.
Cant see why this wouldnt work.

I have a nomad gauge and sender and we were advised to earth sender body, so as there was no seperate lug to connect an earth to, we used a 'piggyback' lucas connector and a jubilee clip round the sender body and wired it to a nearby earth - OK looks a little bit of a bodge but works and its not like anyone can see it anyway
I did the same with the oil temp sender and that works fine too.
As a side note - When we bought them we were advised that if it shot round to the max as soon as it was powered up it would be a poor earth, but wiring it the way we have we didn't have a problm.
