Never seen that one down at Power Engineering!
Didn't realise you could get that much out of them.
I know you can get some exceptionaly quick ones, Mark Sheads white one for example, don't know what power it was running though.
Anyone got a video of that monster? Would love to see it run

Not much ever happens on our forum though.
I've been a member here for a while though.

Depends if you're running stock and he could have had an NA with a few improvements. A stock NA hits 60 in around 6.7-6.9 so yes he'd be slower but not much.

I'm totally neutral on this one as i've owned both the saffy cossy and the GTO TT, but stock for stock the GTO is gonna blow you into the weeds.
You also have to remember that there's not many stock GTO's about these days...

Regarding your handling comments – Chaps you do need to remember that the GTO is a Grand Tourer and not an out and out sports car.
That said if you have ever driven a GTO with decent suspension that was set up correctly then you may feel differently.
I have owned both 2wd and 4wd Saff Cosworths. I use to do a great deal of track days and I would certainly agree that the GTO handles terrible in comparison on a track as stock. (If fact there is a video kicking about of me driving my then stock black GTO round Castle Combe and I said on the video that the handling was not even as good as my track set up Cavalier V6)
Two years on, with full Tein suspension my opinion is very very different.
The GTO can ideed handle very well.
The big issue with the GTO is not the weight, it is the 4 wheel steering. You turn in, and then turn out of a tight chicane the 4WS will just be steering in – this isn’t too cool and often leads to a crash!
As far as power goes, a stock or even BPU Saffie will not beat a GTO TT in a straight line. If anyone wants to put it to the test then we could organise a fun meet at Santapod or Shakespeare raceways.
There are a few GTO owners that are now getting into track days too, again we could organise a day where some of you chaps hit the track with a few GTO’s.
As far as great handling cars go, you can’t beat a GTO… But not the one with a Mitsubishi badge! – Noble is the way forward.

They are incredibly fast in a straight line, the 3000gt is limited to 155mph, GTO's (Imports) are restricted to 112 in japan, it's a very simple job to de limit them.
As I said before i'm totally neutral, I loved my Saffy but I loved the GTO more..........
Both great cars in their own right...
