like i told ya paul
have u got a meter?
if not pop round i'll check it out for ya.
come now if u like.
but if u charge ur battery u'll get an hour or 2 of driving out of it.
just dont put ur lights or anything on.
thats what i had to do when my alternator died.

i recently had a problem like this on my saph cos found out it was the battery warning light bulb in the dash!. if it is the same thing it explains why your not getting the light come on!.the bulb is part of the circuit and without this the battery wont charge but the car will run off the power of the alternator just a suggestion as this fixed my problem and only cost me 25p
regards Alex.

13.5 volts is still to too low in my opinion for an alternator to be charging properly.. ideally I would want to be seeing around 13.9-14.5 volts
But low charging (if yours is charging at all?) could just be down to something as simple as a bad earth or a slack alternator belt so I would check those first
