Can anyone point me in the right direction for some software so i can upload, edit and burn from mini dv from my V/C to a dvd-r etc??

Must be simplistic as im thick as fook and i dont know if it makes a difference the V/C is a Sony DCR-HC35E

Ive tried with the Sony software and cant get on with it and someone told me use DVD Santa and this wont recognise the V/C and keeps telling me to plug into port IEEE1394 ???
